25 Years Ago - December 12, 1995

    New ambulance headquarters finished. Construction of the new headquarters on West Shelby has been completed and everything moved into the building. County Judge Executive Don Mays said the project would not have been possible without donations of numerous businesses in the community.
    Kincaid Lake State Park Superintendent Jeff Auchter presented the following service pins to Bob Donahue 10 years, Larry McClanahan 20 years, Emmett King 20 years, and Melissa Crouch 10 years.

    Duke Hamilton, disc jockey of B105, recently spent the morning at Northern Elementary. Darlene Murrell, Director of Northern Family Resource Center, arranged this for the students. Mr. Hamilton interacted and told the kids about his job and the importance of getting a good education.

50 Years Ago - December 4, 1970

    Woodrow Shoemaker of Butler age 51, passed away at Veterans Hospital in Cincinnati Saturday November 28, 1970. He was a Pendleton County farmer and a Butler Cemetery employee.
    Henry Sullivan (Flint) aged 86 years passed away Sunday, November 29, 1970.
    Services for James Henry Lovelace were held Monday, November 30, 1970 at Turner Ridge Baptist Church.
    Mrs. Ellen E. Fisk, 85, of DeMossville passed away Tuesday, November 24, 1970 at Booth Fospital.
    Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Howard are receiving congratulations upon the arrival of a new baby born Friday, November 20, 1970 at St. Luke Hospital. He was named after his father Donnie Ray Howard II.

75 Years Ago - November 30, 1945

    Jefferson Bradford, aged 83 years, one of the best known citizens in the northern part of Pendleton County, passed away at his home at Boston Station, on Tuesday November 20, 1945.
    Mrs. Karie Hoerlein, aged 80 years, widow of the late Peter Hoerlein, succumbed at the home of jailer elect and Mrs. J. B. Littleton at the Fair Grounds in this city on Friday November 23, 1945.
     Mr. and Mrs. John H. Nelson have been entertaining a 10 lb. son at their home at California since November 15. He will answer to the name of Darel Lynn.
    Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Conrad of Goforth are receiving congratulations on the arrival of a fine 7 lb. 10 oz. son on November 17, 1945. He has been named Thomas Edward and is the first heir.
    Mrs. Nealie Clifford, aged 83 years and nine months, one of Pendleton County’s most highly esteemed Christian women passed away at her home near Boyd on November 11, 1945.

100 Years Ago - December 4, 1920

    James W. Utter, prominent businessman of Cincinnati, passed away Friday, November 26. Mr. Utter was found dead in a chair at his office in the Provident Bank Building. Mr. Utter was born in Pendleton County near Butler and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Utter.
    Mrs. Theodocia M. Knight,  widow of the late Edward W. KKnight, passed away November 25 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert Nicholson, at Tucson, Arizona. Mrs. Knight was born in Falmouth on October 31, 1841, in the brick building on Main Street, formerly occupied by Henry Ritter Meat Market, which was the old family homestead of her father. Mrs. Knight was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Hauser.
    Henry Hill, well known farmer who resided in Curry, passed away Monday afternoon November 22.
    On Sunday November 14, the Death Angel entered the home of J. T. Turner and claimed for his own John Thomas Turner. Mr. Turner was 64 years and two days of age.
