The Butler Memorial Day Parade was a great time for a lot of people.  There were police cars, fire trucks, horses, motorcycle, bicycles, cars, floats, tractors,  ambulance, trucks, sheriff’ truck, & ROTC.  And so much candy!  And who does not love candy.
Of the people I talked with one common denominator stood out: people just wanted to get out and feel “normal” again. No masks, other people, hugs, the feeling of being a kid again (and this was the adults).
To see the smiling faces of the kids playing with their friends again. Then to watch  the gun salute of the veterans as they wrapped up the parade just brought comfort and the reason behind out freedom. Thank a veteran. The veterans present were: Joel Nahari, Commander, Jim Sharp, Henry Bertram, Herman Schack, Berle Maddox, Kathy McDowell, Mike McDowell, Gary Barnard, Mark Fields, Tom Rector, Roger Marshall & Joe Klar.
