For many years, the Pendleton High School band and parents parked cars at the Wool Fest. The assignment was a fundraiser for the band, and the money raised helped offset the cost for needs the band had.
This year, those who parked were not the usual crew. The band decided to forego that assignment, and Steve Taylor, the man who has been in charge of Wool Fest parking for the past 24 years, and Gregg Dennison wish to publicly thank the groups who stepped up to help direct people to parking places at the event.
“We had about 60 percent of the people we needed to park this year,” Taylor said.
And unlike the past, those who were parking this year came in with few, if any, experienced people. Before, parents and band members would roll in and roll out. The majority of those who ran the parking were experienced in doing so. That was not the case this year.
Taylor compliments those who worked for a fantastic job under high-pressure circumstances and long hours.
Search and Rescue worked all three days, and the following organizations worked, as well:
Friday, the PCHS Cheer Boosters, led by Abby Belcher.
Saturday, Ladycats Basketball, led by Jenna O’Hara.
Saturday and Sunday, Bracken County FCCLA.

Taylor and Dennison also thank Mike Moore (“many thanks,” he says), Sam Dennison, Molly and Luke Dennison, and Makenah McKenney (Taylor’s angel from heaven, he laughed) for their help with parking.
Taylor realizes things do not always go as people think they should or wish they had when it comes to parking, but even as he hears complaints, he keeps the end in mind.
“You’re there to help everyone have a good time.”
As usual, they accomplished the goal.
