Tennis takes on Harrison & Bracken

The Pendleton County Tennis team opened its season taking on Harrison and Bracken County.

On March 13, the team traveled to Cynthiana to face Harrison County. In singles action, Braydon Askren fell in a very competitive match that took over two hours to complete, falling in a super tie break, 9-11, 6-1, 9-11. Josh Craig was victorious in his match winning in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. Seventh grader Colton Bishop won his match, 8-5. In doubles action, Askren and Craig fell 4-8 and the duo of Bishop and Craig lost 5-8.

In girls action, sophomore Lily King picked up a win, 8-5, while Chloe Holbrook and Leah Rardin lost their matches. In girls doubles competition, the teams consisting of Holbrook and Sophie Richie along with Kera and Emma Bishop fell in straight sets.

On March 14, Pendleton County took on Bracken County. The boys duo of Asken and Bishop picked up a win in doubles play, 8-2. A second boys doubles team made up of Josh Craig and seventh grader Josh Browning also won their match, 8-1. Chloe Holbrook picked up an 8-1 win in singles competition for the ladies, while Leah Rardin and Lily King fell in their singles matches. In doubles play, Holbrook and Richie suffered a loss as well as the duo of Emma and Kera Bishop.

This week the team has scheduled matches with St. Patrick (Maysville), and a pair of home matchups with Williamstown and Scott High.
