Martinsville short track racing set the final four next week for the championship. In a do-or-die situation, Chase Elliott pulled out the win after a controversial pit stop penalty was reversed   and will be racing for his first championship. The shocking outcome of the race had to be that Kevin Harvick, the most dominant this season with nine wins, did not qualify for a final four spot, missing by one point, a point he tried to pick up right at the finish line wrecking him and Kyle Busch. Hard to beat a good short track race especially with so much on the line. The Final Four will be Brad Keselowski, Chase Elliott, Denny Hamlin, and Joey Logano.
Texas Race Day Sunday..Monday..Tuesday..Wednesday. Finally the race was able to be completed, after thousands of dollars spent to send the air titans around the track for four days, and the result was a surprising one for this season although it wouldn’t have been any other year. Kyle Busch took the Skittles Zombie machine to the winner’s circle continuing his win streak to 16 years (will he catch up with the King who did it for 18 years). It has been so long since he last won that he forgot to do his signature bow until reminded by the fans and the reporter.
I’m going to take a few lines to gripe. I’m not a big fan of NBC broadcasting the races in the first place, but this season they have numerous times switched channels toward the end of the race which I find to be very annoying especially if I have to DVR the race. If it is not a priority to complete the broadcast from start to finish then give up the rights and let Fox have the whole season.
Kyle Larson has been offically hired by Hendrick Motorsports and will drive the #5. No sponsorship announced yet, but with three months before the season starts again I’m sure some company will step forward. This makes the Hendricks team pretty impressive on paper with Elliott, Byron, Bowman, and now Larson.
The local dirt track world was saddened to hear of the passing of Jackie Boggs #4B last week. I’ve watched Boggs race many times up against his dad Hall of Famer Black Jack Boggs and the Conley family and he always went pedal down when on the track. Richmond (KY) Raceway honored Boggs at the running of the Bluegrass Nationals on October 31. The dirt world lost a true competitor in Boggs.
Florence Speedway held their last event of the season, “The Fall 50.” The winner was Michael Chilton with Bobby Pierce coming in second. The track’s next event will be he “Spring 50” on March 13, 2021.
The eNASCAR series on iracing.com had  their championship race for $100,000 last night results were not available by press time. The simulation industry has come a long way from shoving quarters in the slot to play Pole Position.
