The Pendleton County Ladycats soccer team experienced mixed results as they scored a resounding home win over Paris, but fell in a disappointment loss one night later to Grant County.

On August 30, the team blew out the visiting Paris Lady Greyhounds 10-0 in a game that was called with 25 minutes left in the second half. Senior midfielder Cay Harper led the offensive attack with four goals and was one of five Ladycats to enter the scoring column. Jae Caudill and Logan Cooper added two goals each. Freshman Riley Browning would score her first varsity goal and also finding the back of the net would be Delaney Thompson.

The team returned to action the following night at Veteran's Field to host the Grant County Lady Braves. It took no time for the Ladycats to find themselves playing from behind as Grant County netted a goal less than 30 seconds into the contest. From there, Pendleton County would seize control of the half as they dominated possession and were able to generate numerous shots on goal. However, the team came away empty handed and continued to trail until Harper scored to nod the game at one-goal apiece 12 minutes before halftime.

In the second half, Grant County came out aggressive and was able to produce shot attempts on the Ladycat defenders. The Lady Braves regained the lead with 16 minutes to play to go up 2-1. Five minutes later, it would be Harper once again coming to the rescue and she put her squad on her back in netting her second goal of the night to even the game at two goals apiece. The turning point in the contest would come with nine minutes remaining as a handball foul would be called against Pendleton County resulting in a free kick for the Lady Braves. This would result in a goal that would propel Grant County to a 3-2 lead which would ultimately be the final score.

"This was a frustrating one to lose because I felt we were the better team," said Ladycats head coach Aaron Harper. "Our energy to start the game was lacking and something seemed off the entire night. Things came easy the day before in the win over Paris, but that won't be the case all the time. We'll look to learn from this and move forward," he added.

Pendleton County will next travel north to face Bellevue on September 6 and will conclude their week with a pair of matchups at the Marshall Auto Group Cup held in Grant County on September 9.
