Kenneth ‘Sonny’ Bowen, 86

Demossville — Kenneth (Sonny) Bowen (86) of Demossville, passed away on May 27, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Edgewood Hospital.

He was born in Falmouth, on November 29, 1939, son of the late Goerge L. and Nora Loomis Bowen.

Kenneth was known throughout the community for his hardworking spirit, kind heart, and dedication to others. He retired after 33 years as a teacher at Simon Kenton High School, where he positively impacted countless students and families. A member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, attended Grassy Creek Christian Church, Kenny was also the longtime owner and operator of Whippy Dip, a Pendleton County farmer, and a realtor who proudly served his community in many ways. He will be remembered for his faith, generosity, warm personality, and the lasting influence he had on those who knew and loved him.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Nancy Bowen; son, Kenny (Belinda) Bowen II; daughter, Bradie Bowen; sisters, Joyce (late Dennis) Griffin, Kay (late Fred) Fisk, Carol (Peter) Kalomeres, Polly (Donnie) Sams; grandchildren, Kenny (Chelsea) Bowen III, Gabriel (Holly) Bowen, Luke (Allison) Bowen; and 4 great- grandchildren.    

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2026, at Peoples Funeral Home, in Butler. Funeral will immediately follow, also at the funeral home.

Private graveside service will take place after the funeral at Gardnersville Cemetery.
