Blanket Creek

The Scripture for Sunday’s message was Acts 16:14-40, and the topic was “The Greatest Question Ever Asked.”

This chapter is regarding Paul and Silas being beat and imprisoned due to their teaching of God’s word. When the earthquake came and loosened the prison doors the guard was ready to kill himself. Paul shouted for him to stop. Then the guard asked the greatest question ever asked: “What must I do to be saved?”

All we need to do is believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Remember, the Lord is with us in the bad times as well as the good. Instead of complaining about what we don’t have, thank Him for what we do have.

Remember the family of Larry Fields.

Greetings, friends! Do you know where you will be spending eternity?

Pastor Ron spoke to us on Sunday about why we don’t want to spend eternity in hell! We should be feeling a sense of urgency to share the Gospel with others! Hell is a terrible place as he shared many references from the Bible of what it is like there. Believe me you don’t want to go there or any of your friends or family for that matter! Share the good news with them!

Camp Northward will be having retreats for the ladies on September 11-12 and for the men on September 18-19 with guest speaker Justin Martin from Duck Dynasty!

On August 21 at 6:30 we will have adult game night!

We had several praises and several prayer requests including Ron Hitches family in the loss of a grandson!

Have a blessed week and don’t forget to share the Good News!

Read the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37), which bears a great similarity to our people of today.

The church board meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 19.

Women's Gathering at Camp Northward is Sept. 11 and 12. Register by Sept. 4.

Our revival is coming Sept. 11 to 13 with Evan Meyer as evangelist. We’ll have special music each service, so come out to an old-fashioned revival.

Congrats to Cody and Christina Herron Lewis upon the birth of Wyatt Douglas on Aug. 3.  Proud grandparents are Lisa Herron and Keith Herron. Great-grandparents are Charley and Dorothy Herron, Shirley Mitchell and Jim McCann. Big sister is Olivia.

Prayer concerns include Jim McCann, Dorothy Herron, Kellie Turner, Jimmy Godman, Terri Thomas, Wendy Rarrieck, Emma Bishop English, Jerry England, Jeff Dean, Ronnie Moore, Bro. Kenny Speakes, shut-ins, cancer issues, our nation and its military.

Our sympathy to families of Dallas Hensley, Larry Fields, Gary Barlow and Jerry Smith.

Pine Grove United Methodist

This week’s scripture was Luke 12:32-40, which is part of Jesus’ teaching his disciples about preparing for his coming.  In this section, the three main components are not to worry, not to depend on possessions — except for possessing a good relationship with God — and, perhaps most importantly, to be ready always.

It is certain that Christ is coming, but no one knows when. We must have our lives in order, focused on the Kingdom, always.

Pine Grove UMC invites all to join us for worship each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. The church is located at 9095 KY 10 in Caddo. (The mailing address is listed as Foster.)

Bro. Mark’s message was from Mark 2:16” “And when the scribes and Pharisees saw Him eating with the tax collectors and sinners, they said to His disciples, ‘How is it that He eats and drinks with tax collectors and sinners?’ Jesus heard them and said, ‘Sick people need a doctor, not healthy ones. I haven’t come to tell good people to repent, but the bad ones.’”

Have you ever judged someone? Does the outside have to look good? God doesn’t look at the outside; he looks at our heart. Our minds are a battle ground. Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Tell others about God! “Love one another as I have loved you.”

“A wise man will hear and increase learning …” Prov. 1:5.

This week, school starts for Pendleton County as well as most surrounding counties. Pray for the staff and students as they begin the school year.

Our service on Sunday focused on the children. The children’s message, “We Work Hard,” was from 2 Thessalonians 3:13 “… do not grow weary in doing good.” The message was to encourage the kids to work hard in school.

Callie Seedle read Proverbs 4:5-8. Pray for Callie and the others who will be starting college in the days ahead.

The Praise team sang Build My Life, praying that all will build their life on the strong foundation of God.

Bro. Dale’s message was “Back to School,” from 2 Timothy 2:15. This verse ends saying, “… rightly dividing the word of the truth.”

Kids today are faced with big decisions, pray for them, that they will keep God at the center of the decisions they make!
