The fourth annual Farm and Home Safety Expo will be held in Pendleton County on April 21 at the Fairgrounds. ASdmission is free. There will be a free country ham and hot dogs with refreshments for everyone. The expo is not just for farmers and is open to all.
Former graduate working for youth on GOP in Washington. Kimberly Barnes- O’Connor, a former Pendleton High School graduate, is children and youth policy cordinator for Senator Nancy Kassebaum. Since 1991 O’Connor has assisted Kassebaum on youth related legislation.
First Ladycat Fast Pitch softball season starts this year as the softball team will play both slow and fast pitch schedules at the same time. The average speed of pitchers will be in the 20-30 mph range with some top hurlers reaching into the 40’s. The team will be coached by Gary Florence and assisted by Troy Caswell. Team members: Varsity- M. Prewitt, Julie Gilkison, Trisha Snapp, April Jones, Brandy Oaks, Jennifer Johnting, Tami Thornberry, Kathy Stewart, Heather Adams, Erica Oder, Kelli Wright, J Kremer, Amanda Kraus, Cristy McGoveney, and Kim Kyle. 50 Years Ago - April 3, 1970
Word was received by Mr. and Mrs. John Mains of near Mt. Vernon last week that their son Sp/4 Roy Mains, serving with the United States Army in Vietnam, had been wounded in action earlier this month.
Dr. Carl F. Crecelius, aged 93 years, highly beloved and respected dentist of Pendleton County for 70 years, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, March 28, 1970. His home was at 305 Maple Avenue, Falmouth. He was the son of the late Clark F. and Kate Wilbur Crecelius and was born in Lebanworth, In. March 25, 1877.
Dora Johnson, son of the late Elijah and Anne Miller Johnson, born in Kentucky on April 20, 1885 and passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 1970 at Pendleton County Hospital, Falmouth. His age at the time of his passing was 84 years.
Leslie Sargent, aged 80 years, well known Bethel citizen and Pendleton County farmer, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 1970.
75 Years Ago - April 7, 1945
The grand total collected in the Red Cross Drive just closed here in Pendleton County, has been swelled to approximately $7,848 or $1,648 over the county’s assigned quota.
Now with the United States Army somewhere in thr Philippines, Pvt. W. Marvin Davis, is seeking reelection as county attoney of Pendleton County in the Democratic Primary to be held Saturday, August 4. Private Davis, who has faithfully served in the office of county attorney, gave up his home, law practice, and position to take up the flying colors of his beloved country.
Pendleton County citizens gave 300 pints of blood to the American Red Cross last Tuesday and Wednesday when the mobile unit unit set up in the basement of the Falmouth Baptist Church. Mrs. Ina Carpenter of this city is the county chairman.
The new president of the Falmouth Rotary Club for 1945-46 is Rev. Robert Glenn, pastor of the Falmouth Christian Church. Rev, Glenn is an ardent worker in Rotary. Other officers named for the year were Edwin A. Monroe, vice president: A. A. Davenport, treasurer: and Warren J. Shonert, secretary. Directors named included J. M. Mason, Fred Mauney, L. H. Lutes.

Miss Tobitt Fling and Hobart Bridges surprised their many friends and relatives by eloping to Cincinnati Saturday night, where they were marries.
William A. Clark Jr. and Miss Pearl Thomas, well known and popular young folks of the Neave vicinity, were wedded at Maysville on March 10.
D. L. Petty, retired farmer, aged nearly 90 years, died near Connersville on Sunday, March 21.
Golie Doan and Miss Sadie K. Teals, daughter of Josh Teals of Berry, were married in Newport on March 18.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Brockley of near Neave are rejoicing over the arrival of a little daughter who came to board with them recently. The little miss has been named Margaret Louisa.
Bealie Van Claypoole, 24, and Miss Nannie B. Ravenscraft, 19, both of near Morgan, were married in this city on Wednesday morning. Rev. O. J. Steger performed the ceremony at his home on Robbins Avenue.
