VEGE Manufacturing in Falmouth held an open house March 26 for its employees and the community. A NASCAR vehicle and several antique cars were on display and snacks were provided along with self-guided tours.

Vice President Malcolm Sissmore said the purpose of the open house was to bring the community and VEGE employees together.

“We want the community see what we’ve done here. Our level of professionalism and training with your employees is better than ever,” Sissmore said.

Prior to the evening’s open house, six tour busses arrived at VEGE carrying 230 members of the Production Engine Remanufacturers Association, a national organization that was holding its annual technical seminar at the Airport Holiday Inn in northern Kentucky. This year’s seminar was chaired by Sissmore.

During their visit to Falmouth, the tour group was shown a video of Falmouth during the 1997 flood.

VEGE Manufacturing, a part of the VEGE Motoren family of companies and world leader in engine manufacturing, has recently been awarded ISO 9001 and QA-9000 certifications for its Falmouth engine manufacturing facility.

Mrs. C.N. Johnson, who resides on Dickerson Lane, near the fairground, has a little brown leghorn hen that is a wonder when it comes to laying large eggs.

Mrs. Johnson sent us six eggs laid by this wonderful hen that weighed 17 ounces. These are the largest eggs we have seen laid by an variety of chickens, and if anyone can beat this, let us know about it.
