Dispute devolves into vehicle chase, multiple gunshots
FALMOUTH — One man is in custody and another remains at large after an argument escalated into a rolling shootout Saturday afternoon.
Ethan Groneck, 18, of Alexandria, is being held in the Grant County Detention Center on charges of wanton endangerment and tampering with physical evidence. Additional charges are pending, according to Sgt. Brody Schmeing of the Falmouth Police Department.
Police have a warrant out for the arrest of Adam Duncan, about 20, originally of Pendleton County but known to hang out in the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area, Schmeing said.
At least two juveniles also were involved, Schmeing said. Those names were not released because of their ages.
No one was wounded in the shootout, “but it was very, very close,” he said.
The occupants of a red Honda and black Honda met about 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of McDonald’s restaurant in Falmouth to settle a disagreement, Schmeing said. However, the argument continued and a gun was pulled.
One car took off and the other pursued, and “both parties shot at each other,” he said.
The cars traveled west on Shelby Street near Park Street, according to police reports.
“This was not a random act of violence,” a police report states.
“The incident is believed to be connected to ongoing investigations.”
The investigation is continuing with more parties being interviewed. Police also are reviewing footage from any surveillance cameras in the area that captured any of argument and chase.
Additional information will be released as it becomes available, police said.
