By Nila Harris BUTLER — On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, Northern Elementary students trotted off for Thanksgiving break, the school held its annual Turkey Trot for students in grades K-5.

Owner Sheila Utz said she began her business 36 years ago to “raise a family and teach my child hard work.” Business has been slow of late, so advertising and sprucing should give a boost, she said. Duke boosts small businesses; Chamber selects grantees

Since 2020, the Duke Energy Foundation has partnered with nonprofit organizations in its Kentucky and Ohio service region to provide grants to boost small businesses.

Council not eager to give up city fire department

By Carolyn Reid FALMOUTH — In response to a proposal from Pendleton County Fiscal Court to take over the city fire department, Councilwoman Amy Hurst stated she wanted to see “more meat” to the proposal.The proposal from fiscal court was that the county purchase the department and its equipment.

Schools offer incentives to recruit bus drivers

PCHS Bowling finishes runner-up at Holy Cross, scores road win over Bishop Brossart

By Rhonda Hutchison On November 16, the Pendleton County bowling team participated in the Holy Cross High School Team Baker Event. Five team members had to bowl two seeding games each.The Wildcats had a total pin count of 1732 and seeded fourth out of 15 boys teams.
Approximately 35 military veterans and their guests were treated to a meal and entertainment last Monday, Veterans Day, at Pendleton County High School. Students at all four county schools participated in thanking veterans for their service. Photo by Nila Harris.
