BUTLER — Victoria Steward, fifth-grade reading and writing teacher at Northern Elementary School, earned the Excellence in Education Golden Apple Award last week.
Steward, who has been teaching at Northern for 16 years, was nominated for this honor because she is “a transformative educator who goes above and beyond the call of duty. Her tireless efforts to create a positive, nurturing, and academically challenging environment make her an exceptional recipient of the Golden Apple award,” according to a Northern Elementary Facebook post.
The post goes on to explain how Steward creates an “atmosphere where students feel safe to ask questions, explore new ideas and take intellectual risks.”
Steward serves as a mentor and inspiration to her students and fellow educators.
“Whether it’s staying after school to provide extra help, organizing activities, or simply offering words of encouragement, Tori consistently demonstrates care and dedication to students both inside and outside the classroom.”
Steward received a Master of Arts degree from Northern Kentucky University in the teacher as leader in special education program. Her Bachelor of Arts degree is from Midway University, where she majored in elementary education.
“I was deeply honored and immensely proud to receive this award. It served as a meaningful validation of the dedication, hard work and care I strive to bring to my students each day,” Steward said.
“I am truly grateful to be recognized for making a positive impact in the classroom and supporting the growth of young learners. This recognition inspires me to continue exploring innovative and engaging ways to connect with my students and make learning both meaningful and enjoyable,” she said.
