Carlisle goes yard as Ladycats swing for twenty wins
The Pendleton County Ladycats collected two wins in four games which was highlighted by an impressive blowout home victory over Nicholas County on Senior Night.
Prior to the teams 14-2 rout over the Lady Jackets, a ceremony was held to recognize the clubs lone senior, Misty Clower. She was accompanied on the field by her parents Bill and Judy as she was honored for her contributions to the program over the past five seasons.
Pendleton County put up gaudy offensive numbers as they racked up 11 hits and were led by freshman shortstop Raegan Carlisle, who delivered six RBI’s while going 3-4 at the plate, falling just a single shy of hitting for the cycle. Carlisle doubled in the second, crushed an over-the-fence home run to centerfield in the third inning and followed that up with a triple in the fourth. Sydney Manor, Kylie Richardson and Olivia Verst also put together multi-hit games for the Ladycats as starting pitcher Kayley Bruener picked up the win on the mound.
Pendleton County also netted a lopsided 17-1 win over Scott on May 6. They quickly jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back as the game was called in the third inning. Junior Sam Verst knocked in a team-high three runs as she, along with Olivia Verst, Manor and Bruener, collected two hits each.
On May 11, the team took part in the David Lery Classic and fell to both East Carter and Model. The club now sits at 19-11 overall and will look to capture their 20th victory in the final week of the regular season. They finished last season with a 17-4 record.
Pendleton County will have three chances to pick up their 20th victory the final week of the season. They added a game on Tuesday, May 14 , at Ryle due to earlier cancellations. They will host Bourbon County on May 15 and Campbell County on May 17 before heading into district play on Monday, May 20 at 5:30 versus Nicholas County.
