Pendleton County Relay For Life to host kickoff rally on November 7

Relay For Life of Pendleton County will officially kick-off its 2015 season at 6:30 p.m. on November 7 at the Farm Bureau Building in Falmouth! New and returning event volunteers and team captains are invited to gather at the community building, located at 400 Main Street, for a kickoff rally to launch their fundraising efforts. The rally, which will include music and dinner will recognize 2014 participants and will allow you to meet the event leadership team. This also will be a great opportunity to register a team for the first-ever DAY event, which is currently scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the Pendleton County Fairgrounds.

The world’s largest grassroots fundraising movement, Relay For Life, mobilizes communities throughout the country to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and provide participants with an opportunity to fight back against the disease. Relay For Life brings together friends, families, businesses, hospitals, schools, faith-based groups...people from all walks of life - all aimed at furthering the American Cancer Society’s vision of creating a world with less cancer and more birthdays. Last year’s Relay For Life raised over $240,000 in Northern Kentucky!  Those funds were used to serve 841 local cancer patients with over 6,961 FREE services in 2013 alone. If you or a loved one is in need of assistance, please contact 1-800-227-2345 24 hours a day/seven days a week/365 days a year. You can also reach out to the local ACS community representative, Alissa Belna at alissa.belna@cancer.org.

Relay For Life began in 1985 with one man who walked and ran around a track for 24 hours and raised $27,000 for the American Cancer Society. Each year, Relay For Life takes place in 5,100 communities in the United States and more than 21 other countries to raise funds to support the Society’s mission of saving lives by helping people stay well, by helping people get well, by finding cures and by fighting back.
