The problem of violence with our youth

Our news carriers have been full of an item concerning a student at a high school close to Seattle who walked into the cafeteria and shot four students at close range; then killed himself. Two of the students shot were killed. Two remain in critical condition.

A psychologist was interviewed after the melee and asked, “What’s causing youth to kill youth and often themselves?” He said that there was a crisis among our youth that was resulting in this kind of violence. When pressed for a strategy to combat this senseless violence, he mentioned that our federal government’s efforts in mental health were in shambles and that we needed to be on the alert for troubled individuals who might take violent action because of their personal problems.
