Delmar Gabbard, soldier in World War Two

I was a young man, 18 or so, sitting in Dailey Gabbard’s General Store in Elkatawa, Kentucky, just visiting as we had moved back to this community in which I was reared. Sam, the patriarch of the Gabbard family was seated on the bench that had worn slick from the shifting of many behinds thereon. A salesman entered and asked, “Does anyone know the family of Delmar Gabbard?” Sam and Dailey immediately said that he was the brother of one, the son of the other.
