Shirley Ann Hargett, 81

Shirley Ann Clayton Hargett, 81, of Minerva, Ky. went to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 19, 2017. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children.

Born on September 18, 1935, in Pendleton County, she was the sixth of eleven children born to Hillary and Pearlinnia Poe Clayton. Shirley was a member of the Flour Creek Christian Church. She was the loving widow of Edgar Hargett, who passed away November 8, 1997. They were married May 25, 1957, in Falmouth. To this union were born five children, Karen (Greg) Hinson of Germantown, Vickie (Wayne Lacy) King of Bethel, OH, Regina (Tim) Emmons of Tuscaloosa, AL, Randy (Kay) Hargett of Flemingsburg, and Angela Lou Hargett who passed away in 1969.

In addition to her children, she leaves grandchildren, Andrew King, Alex King, Sarah Hinson, Reagan Emmons, Sydney Emmons, and Adam Hargett. She also leaves siblings, Hubert Paul (Jean) Clayton, Barbara (Jim) Kendall, Dorothy Laytart, Betty (Ray) Gelter, and Daryl (Sheri) Clayton and several nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by siblings, Dale Clayton, Evelyn Fields, Earl Clayton, Bob Clayton, and William “Pete” Clayton.

Her life was her family.  She enjoyed working in her flower garden, sewing, working puzzles, and playing board games. She was also a proud supporter of Paralyzed Veterans of America.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 23 at Palmer Funeral Home in Germantown.

Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
