George Samuel Porter, 89
George Samuel Porter, 89, of Falmouth, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at his home.
He was born in Pendleton County on August 19, 1925 to the late George and Mary Ellen Gross Porter, was a retired employee of the Kentucky State Highway Department, a welder, a farmer and became a member of First Baptist Church at an early age.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were lifelong companion, Bertha Crozier; daughter, Sandy Porter; sisters, Betty Lewis, Dorothy Johnson, Mary Horton and Dora Juanita "Kitty" Porter; brothers, Charles "Ollie" Porter, Ben Porter and Moses Porter.
Surviving are daughter, Cheryl (Gerald) Robinson, Danville; son, Harry (Karen) Crozier, Falmouth; sisters, Laura Jackson, Fairfield, Ohio and Pat Porter, Cincinnati, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Reverend Melvin Gross, Reverend Harry Crozier and Reverend Gerald Robinson officiating. Elder Laura Jackson read scripture and special music was shared by Mary Carman and Adam Crozier. Serving as pallbearers were Robin Horton, Mark Porter, Alvin Porter, Ben Porter, Tubby Johnson, Mike Porter and Terry Warner.
Interment took place at Crescent Hill Cemetery, Falmouth.
