FALMOUTH — Dennis Brent Gosney, 48, of Falmouth, passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana.
Born on July 11, 1976, in Cynthiana, Brent was the only son of Dennis Gosney and the late Carol Faye Ammerman Gosney. A 1994 graduate of Pendleton County High School, Brent’s special gifts of analyzing, planning and calculating coupled with his intuitive nature, served him well as a lifelong Pendleton County farmer.
At the age of 5, Brent started driving a tractor for his father and the late Alva Lee Wright. He bought his first John Deere tractor when he was 14, all the while continuing to work under the watchful eyes of his father and Alva Lee, soaking up all his curious mind could learn from these two seasoned farmers.
In 2024, Brent reached his goal of growing more than 100 acres of tobacco, with a total of 125.
On April 25, 1998, he married Martha Thornton Gosney, and they worked together every day raising their two daughters on Double L Farms and instilling in them a strong work ethic and a love and respect for the land, planning with a purpose, looking for the “next step,” growing crops, tending animals, being good neighbors and friends, and supporting each other always.
Brent let his dedication and hard work speak for him, and his devotion to his family, friends, and farms, were respected by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife and best friend of 26 years, Martha, and his father Denny, he is survived by two daughters blessed to have him as their Dad, Lydia Gosney and London Gosney; three sisters, Delana Robinson (Mike), Jana LaFollette (Matt) and India Gosney; his trusted hands, nephew Trenton Shields, and the boys, Ezequiel Hernandez Vicente, Hector Abelino Olarte, Uriel DeLuna Garcia, Adrian Ambrodo Braulio, Mario Alberto DeLuna Garcia, Jose Alfredo Bernabe, Lucio Leon Vazques, Angel Facundo Santiago, Felix Ambrocio Braulio and Salomon Morales Perez; and a host of extended family and friends.
