The Wildcats soccer program traveled to Owen County last Tuesday and walked away with a 5-0 win over the Rebels.
Freshman Liam Mattill scored his first career varsity goal and eventually put a second goal away by the end of the game. Parker McCandless, Jaren Ashcraft, and Easton Browning also each scored one goal with Jayden Frisch assisting two of the five Wildcat Goals. Both goalkeepers Kaiden Espelage and Aaron Wells earned the shut out. The strong play by the Wildcat defense also contributed to Owen County failing to score in the 90 minutes of play.
The team hit the road again on Thursday to play a very talented Calvary Christian team. The Cougars ended up defeating the Wildcats 9-1. The lone Wildcat goal came when the Calvary goalkeeper’s kick deflected off the head of striker Liam Mattill and found its way into the back of the net.
This week the Wildcats will face a tough schedule. On Tuesday, both the JV and Varsity team will head to Walton-Verona to take on the Bearcats. The season home opener will be played on Thursday night against Villa Madonna with JV taking the field at 6:00 pm and Varsity following at 7:30 pm.
