Butler — Joshua “Josh” Ray Cole, age 41, passed away at River Valley Nursing Home on Wednesday, August 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was the youngest of the three children and he was born on January 1, 1985, at St. Luke Hospital in Fort Thomas, Kentucky.
Joshua was the friendly giant in the crowd and always wore his heart on his sleeve. He was always looking for ways to help his loved ones, and his family meant everything to him. Josh loved to laugh. He was good at brightening your spirit even on the worst of days. He loved to listen to music; gospel, country, or rock and roll, he loved and sang it all, especially when he thought no one was listening. Josh loved the Lord and he began his walk with Christ on June 12, 2011, when he became a member of Falmouth Christian Church. He served as a deacon whenever he could and his love for family extended to his church family. Josh was a proud Campbell County High School graduate who had an unwavering passion for sports. He was an avid New England Patriots fan, as well as a Cincinnati Reds fan. To have known Joshua was to love Joshua; he never met a stranger from the day he learned to talk.
Surviving to remember and honor Josh are his mother, JoAnna “Crickette” Weber (Dennis); his siblings, Scott Moore and Bridgette Powell (Kevin); his favorite nephew, Gabriel Powell (Cassidy); and his favorite niece, Kailyn Powell. Josh also had a special bond with his aunt (and second mom), Diane Marshall, and his uncle, LC Wallace. Josh is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Josh’s family want to express sincere gratitude to the staff at River Valley Nursing Home. Josh loved the staff and he developed a great friendship with his roommate, Ricky Orme. In addition, the family wants to express gratitude to Hospice of Hope (Maysville) who provided excellent care for Joshua during his time of need.
Funeral Services are being handled by People’s Funeral Home, Butler. Visitation and funeral service will be held on August 29, 2026, at Falmouth Christian Church, 303 W. Shelby St., Falmouth, KY 41040. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with funeral service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Falmouth Christian Church.
