Man loses life in Licking River over holiday weekend

Steven Sizemore was a man who loved the river and to fish according to his mother, Geneva. It was the river that took his life in a boating mishap over Memorial Day weekend.

Sizemore and Nancy Bishop put a Longboat into the river in Falmouth sometime on Saturday, May 26. Around midnight, the boat capsized according to Bishop.

She was able to get to and hold on a log as she  floated on the river. Her last view of Sizemore was him swimming.

According to a police report gathered from Bishop’s account, she continued to be at the mercy of the river until she reached Kincaid Creek. By the time, she had reached the shore and walked back to the point in Falmouth, it was Monday, May 28 around 3 p.m.

She reported the incident to the Falmouth Police and shortly thereafter, Pendleton County Search and Rescue began searching the river.

At approximately 6 p.m., they found the body hung up in debris at  Kincaid  Creek.
