Landlord addresses Falmouth City Council regarding blighted properties

    Falmouth City Council agreed to amend its agenda during its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 18, to name guest Steve Groh, a landlord who owns properties in the city limits. Groh expressed his frustration in the conditions of properties around the town, especially those in surrounding his own.

It’s on the county roads’ shoulders

    For over a year, Pendleton County Fiscal Court has been discussing the problem of shoulders on county roads and the issue is getting worse, not better, listening to the discussion at the May 18 caucus of Pendleton County Fiscal Court.

Farmer’s Market season celebration

    Pendleton County Farmers Market, located  at the beginning of the Pendleton County Fairgrounds, may have been operating for the past four weeks but they annually celebrate the market season on the last Saturday of May. That is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 29 this year.

Antique Tractor Show approaching

    The Licking Valley Antique Machinery Association will be hosting their annual tractor show on June 4 and 5 at Pendleton County Fairgrounds. On Friday, June 4, times are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, June 5, times are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

    In a move that brings multiple benefits and opportunities for growth, Country Patchwork, owned by Cindy Brown, relocated to the building space in front of Wyatt’s Supermarket at 1308 W. Shelby St. formerly occupied by Kort Physical Therapy.

Board passes tentative budget, rejects ‘do-over’ school year

    With one eye on the future but another eye on the pass, the Pendleton County Board of Education affirmed the recommendations from Superintendent Joe Buerkley in regards to the 2021-22 Tentative Budget and to reject the 2021-22 Supplemental School Year.

Fiscal court moves forward on county budget

    The Pendleton County Fiscal Court held the first reading of the 2021-22 county budget in summarized form.     The total budgeted revenues tall $12,754,936 with the bump coming from an expected $1,400,000 from the American Rescue Plan Act.

New blood needed for tourism revamp

    After a break that was brought on by the pandemic, the Pendleton County Tourism Council  is raring to go in 2021.     “We didn’t want to be the cause of an outbreak,” explains Melanie Hartzel, the director of the tourism council.     Now, the council sees 2021 as time to rebrand.

Battle of the Bluegrass returns to Falmouth

    The LiquiTube Battle of the Bluegrass Pulling series returns to the Pendleton County Fairgrounds on Saturday, May 22 at 7 p.m..     Classes include hot farm tractors, work stock diesel trucks, light limited super stock tractors, limited pro stock diesel trucks and street semis.
