Public hearing to address tax rate

In a special called meeting on August 27 the Falmouth City Clerk Terry England gave a first reading to an ordinance that proposed the city’s tax on real estate property for 2014-2015 be set using the compensating Rate +4. A motion was made to that effect. The motion received a second and a roll call vote was taken. Three council members voted (Yes) and three council members voted (No). The mayor of Falmouth voted (Yes) to break the tie.
