The 2017 Kentucky Wool Festival will be held this weekend, Friday, October 6 through Sunday, October 8, on the grounds near the entrance to Kincaid Lake State Park. This marks the 35th year for the popular fall event.

Kentucky Wool Festival - 35 years and going

It is so hard to imagine that The Kentucky Wool Festival is 35 years old. Seems like yesterday that an interested contingent of locals came together to create something positive for our City and County. As I marvel at the progress today in promotion of Falmouth and Pendleton County, I can’t help but think of the early 1980s when that group of like-minded citizens ignited a similar renaissance in this area.

The City of Falmouth’s historic properties were inventoried and were selected for the National Register of Historic Places. Kincaid Regional Theatre was also born with a vision of one day having an amphitheater at Kincaid Lake State Park. That dream remains with KRT today. Both of those accomplishments are stories in themselves - another day and time. I plan to concentrate on the other successful endeavor at that time, The Kentucky Wool Festival.
