Community to celebrate Veteran’s Day, November 11

Everyone is invited to the Community-wide Veteran’s Day Celebration at 7 p.m., Tuesday, November 11, 2014, in the Pendleton County High School Auditorium. The program will recognize our veterans as well as showcase the talents of the Pendleton County students.  This celebration is being planned cooperatively with Pendleton County Schools, American Legion & Auxiliary Post 109, VFW Post 1978, and the Disabled American Veterans.  A reception will precede the program at 6 p.m. in the high school library for all veterans and their spouses/guests and at 7 p.m.  these veterans and special guests will enter into the celebration as a group through the NJROTC’s sword arch.

The Veteran’s Day Committee is requesting names of all Pendleton County Schools’ graduate veterans to be added to the Veteran Perpetual Plaques that are displayed in the PCHS auditorium lobby. These plaques have been made possible by the John L. Griffin Family.  A complete list of veterans’ names on the plaques may be accessed on the district webpage at If you do not see your name on the list, please send the veteran’s full name, year of high school graduation, branch of service, and years served to Adam Hall at Pendleton County High School (859-654-3355), or Billie Jo Chaplin at the Board of Education office (859-654-6911)

If you are a veteran and would like to submit a picture for the video that will be shown at the community-wide celebration, please contact Billie Jo Chaplin at the above telephone number or email address.

Each school in the district will observe Veteran’s Day during the day with special activities and programs in their buildings.  So mark your calendar for November 11 and watch for details in the weeks to come.
