Cover crop seed cost share program ends soon
The Pendleton County Conservation District Cover Crop Seed Cost Share Program will come to an end on December 31, 2014.
The Conservation district will pay 50% of the total cost of cover crop wheat or rye seed, with a maximum of $100 per landowner.
Bring your dated receipt made out to you, tho our office, fill out a short application, that’s all you have to do. The Board of Supervisors meet on the third Tuesday evening of each month and when they approve your application, a check will be mailed to you. Simple, you bet, to get up to $100 extra cash!
Cover crops benefits both the soil and the subsequent nitrogen, recycle nutrients, provides grazing, reduces compaction, suppresses weeds and pests, utilize excess soil moisture and improves water infiltration. Also, remember to be in compliance with you FSA (Food Security Act) Conservation Plan, you must sow a cover crop.
Remember, December 31, is the last day that you can bring in your receipt and apply for this cost-share!
