Court drops criminal charges against Owensboro businessman

The judge presiding over Billy Joe Miles' criminal case dropped all the charges against the Owensboro businessman Tuesday morning, shutting the door on the case in most respects. At a Tuesday hearing, special Circuit Judge Kelly Mark Easton ordered the first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy and bribery of a witness charges be dismissed against the 78-year-old Miles. The only issue that wasn't resolved Tuesday was whether the charges will be dismissed in a way that would not allow prosecution on the same charges in the future. 2018-01-17T13:30:50-05:00

Juvenile justice grants $174,000 to help youth

A coalition working in Henry, Oldham and Trimble counties have received a $174,410 grant for the Youth Strong Initiative to build on existing mentoring efforts and to implement a parental training program, according to information from the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet.
