Mike Broihier announced Thursday morning that he is running for U.S. Senate next year, the second Democratic candidate to formally announce a challenge to six-term incumbent and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. A biography provided by his campaign indicates that Broihier served in the Marines for over two decades until his retirement in 2005 when he and his wife bought their farm in Lincoln County.
