LOUISVILLE — Pendleton County High School bowlers rolled into the school record books last week with two final four finishes during state competition.

The boys teams advanced to the semi-finals. No PCHS team ever made it that far.

The boys unified combo of Jordan Ewers and Kyan Brewer also clawed their way into the top four in the state, a feat no other Wildcats team had accomplished.

Ladycats Kree Brewer and Maddie Crawford fell short of the top eight but still are in the PCHS record books as the first two Pendleton girls to qualify for state.

The state bowling competition took place Feb. 5 to 7 in Louisville.

After two seeding games, the Wildcats found themselves seeded sixth out of 16 teams with a total pins count of 1,169.

In the first round, Pendleton met 11 seed Harrison County. In the bracket portion of the competition, the first team to win three baker games out of five moves on to the next round.

The Cats took the first two baker games 231-159, 238-189 only to have Harrison take the third game 171-173. The win was secured by Pendleton in the fourth baker game, 176-151 to move the Cats into the elite eight.

In round two, the Cats met No. 3 seed Central Hardin.

The Cats wasted no time in taking the first baker game 214-171. The second baker game ended in a tie, 170-170, giving each team a half point.

Determined not to go out in this round, the Cats stepped up, taking the next two baker games 215-203 and 253-223, securing the win. This win advanced the Cats to the semi-finals and into school history as no previous bowling team had made it this far.

In the semi-finals, the Cats took on No. 2 seed Owensboro. Owensboro came out strong and took the first two bakers 224-181, 231-180. The Cats fought back and took the third baker 185-200.
