The Pendleton County Ladycats avenged a lopsided early season loss to Augusta by defeating the Lady Panthers on Jan. 16.
Three Ladycats recorded double-doubles in the hard-fought 46-39 win. Sophomore Lilly Ashcraft scored 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Junior Kearstin Mayer had 10 points and 12 rebounds, and freshman Hannah Spaulding posted 10 rebounds and a team-best 13 rebounds. Junior Madison Verst swished a trio of three-pointers to finish with nine points and six rebounds.
"I'm proud of these girls and their commitment to growth," said Ladycats head coach Patrick Kelsch. "Last night was a step in the right direction, let keep this momentum going," he added.
The Ladycats Jan. 19 district game with Nicholas County was called off due to weather conditions. The match-up has been rescheduled for Feb. 12.
This week, the team is slated to host three home games beginning with a Jan. 23 clash with Paris. On Jan. 25, the Ladycats welcome in Bluegrass United and will wrap up their week with a Jan. 26 showdown with district rival Harrison County at 6 p.m.
