The Pendleton County Ladycats golf team continues to make strides through their first month of season play. The team notched its first nine-hole match win over Campbell County on August 20 at Pendleton Hills.

On August 21, the team traveled to Grant County for a nine-hole match with the Lady Braves. Grant County was not able to compete with a full squad so they did not register a team score, However, the Ladycats would go onto post a 197. Bruener shot a 38, Tackett finished with a 48, Cooper ended with a 52, Pugh turned in a 59 and Lilly Jones rounded out the group with a 77. Pendleton County ended their week on August 23 competing in the St. Elizabeth Invitational held at Pioneer Golf Course. Final scores for the Ladycats were: Bruener with an 84, Cooper at 99, Pugh with a 112 and Jones finishing with a 156.

Pendleton County head coach Adam Bruener shared his thoughts on what he considered another positive week of action for his squad.

"We had a very successful week and the team has shown a lot of growth. Both Kinly and Anna managed to set another personal best last Saturday and I really can’t say enough about how proud I am for the both of them. Kinly being able to get her score below 100 as a first year golfer is an amazing accomplishment. It takes most players several years of experience to accomplish that and Kinly managed to do it in her fourth ever high school tournament. Anna’s improvement has been very remarkable as well and she just gets better every week. She’s an extremely hard worker and has set the bar high for herself. Laci has also shown great improvement this past week in managing to score a 48 at the Grant County match. Her putting and iron game have really improved and allowed her to get her scores down. Taylor had some struggles earlier in the week but managed to rebound at the Grant County match with a respectable score of 38. Lilly is making some great adjustments with her swing and I think it’s only a matter of time before she sees a big improvement on her scores," Bruener said

This week, the Ladycats will have a road match at Grant County on August 25.
