Former Pendleton County softball great Rodney Hamilton was among the inductees in this year's NKY Sports Hall of Fame group that was honored on October 18 in Park Hills.

Hamilton starred during the 1980s for four teams, including "Florence Trucking" and would go onto win world and state championships. He was a prolific power hitter who was among the leaders in home runs for 15 years. He credits many people who played important roles during his career.

"I'd like to thank my amazing wife, Micki, for being there for me through everything, and all of my dear friends and family who have supported me. My sister Cheri Wright who attended the ceremony as well ad Shelly Newman and Shannon Snow. I'd also like to thank Gary Florence for getting me involved to play for Florence Trucking, Mike Kidwell and a special thanks to Larry Cox who taught me how to play the game," Hamilton said.

The date October 18 already held a very special and unique place for the Hamilton family. Both Rodney and his wife Micki share their birthdays on that day, and it's also the date of the couples wedding anniversary. This year has ranked among the most memorable of Hamilton's life and he looks forward to more special occasions going forward.
