Competition season has begun for the PCHS CheerCats, who will be competing in events for the next four weekends. They started their season at UCA Regionals in Ohio on Oct. 26 at Olentangy High School near Columbus.
The team placed second in the Small Varsity Coed Game Day division. They competed against Princeton High, Harrison High, Elliott County and Berea-Midpark. The CheerCats were only 1.5 points out of first place.
The team is coached by former Pendleton County cheerleaders, Ashley Hutchison and Kendall Lonaker. The team members are Nyah Wright, Kylee Murray, Kaylee Hornsby, Lacey Bromley, AJ Redden, Micah Seksay, Mia Mathis, Kenzie Klaber, Chloe Holbrook, Ariah Merrill, and Brilee Messmer.
“We did a great job today and had zero deductions,” senior AJ Redden said. “Our team is small and we have had some injuries that set us back, but we overcame our problems and did our best today. We are looking forward to competing next weekend and seeing how we do in Northern Kentucky.”
The CheerCats will compete on November 1 at Ryle High School at the Northern Kentucky Cheer Coaches Association (NKCCA) competition.
