For the second time in his collegiate basketball career, Dontaie Allen will be entering the NCAA transfer portal.

Allen, 23, leaves Western Kentucky University after spending the past two seasons there. Averaging eight points per game in 33 games for the Hilltoppers, he helped WKU compile a 22-12 record while claiming the Conference USA Tournament championship and securing a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2013.

WKU head coach Steve Lutz left to fill the vacancy at Oklahoma State shortly after the season concluded and the Hilltoppers quickly named assistant Hank Plona as their new head coach.

Allen led WKU with a team-best 56 made three-pointers during the season while also hitting at a 40 percent clip. He also scored a career-high 30 points in a 105-91 home win over Florida International on Jan. 25. He received his BA during December commencement ceremonies.

Allen's mother, April Allen-Thomas, noted in a Facebook post that her son will keep his options open in possibly continuing to play college basketball while also exploring professional opportunities.
