The Pendleton County boys golf team competed in the regional tournament held at AJ Jolly Golf course in Campbell County on September 18. This would turn out to be the final action the team would see in 2023

The Wildcats were represented by Bryant Brown, Matthew Musk, Austin and Aaron Kirsch, along with Abraham Beebe. There would be 16 total schools competing in the tournament and when all the scores were turned in the Wildcats would finish right in the middle of the pack with an 8th place performance. Brown led the way with a round of 86, followed by Aaron Kirsch who fired a personal best score of 88. Musk turned in a 90, Austin Kirsch finished with a 92 and Beebe rounded out the scoring with a 95.

"Obviously our goal was to make it to the semi state tournament as a team or get some individuals in it. We fell a couple strokes short of qualifying some individuals," said Wildcats head coach Clay Monroe.

"I was super proud of Aaron Kirsch as he fired his personal best 88 in the regional tournament. We will lose a lot of upperclassman and experience. I want to thank Aaron, Austin and Abraham as they have improved a ton over the last few seasons," Monroe added.

Coach Monroe concluded by looking ahead to the 2024 season.

"As for the future. I am confident Bryant and Matthew will be in contention to qualify for semi state next year. They have a lot of potential, and hopefully I can tap into that potential early this coming year."
