The Pendleton County Ladycats collected two more wins to improve to 10-4 as senior Cara Stewart made more team history by becoming the 10th female to reach 1,000 points for her career.
The girls traveled to Grant County on Jan. 4 and defeated the Lady Braves 58-52. Senior Saniah Thomas posted another double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while freshman Lilly Ashcraft scored 15 points. Senior Skylar Ashcraft scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Stewart also notched a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds while also scoring her milestone 1,000th point in early in the game.
The Ladycats hosted Lloyd on January 6 and won 65-25. Pendleton County’s defense controlled the game as they limited Lloyd to 12 points in the first quarter, five points in the second quarter, four points in the third, and just four points in the forth quarter. Saniah Thomas led the scoring with 18 points while grabbing 10 more rebounds, Lilly Ashcraft scored 15 points to go with five rebounds, while Skylar Ashcraft had eight points. Junior Emily Jodrey chipped in with six points and five rebounds.
Pendleton County’s next game will be on Jan. 13 at home versus Robertson County This is also be the annual “Alumni Night” at Pendleton County. The Ladycats game tips off at 6 p.m. with the Wildcats varsity matchup with Robertson County to follow at 8 p.m. The Alumni Ceremony will be held between games and there will be a reception in the cafeteria through halftime of the Wildcat game.
