A successful and memorable soccer season came to an end for the Pendleton County Ladycats as they were defeated by Bishop Brossart in the semifinals of the 10th Region Tournament.

Pendleton County traveled to George Rogers Clark High School on October 11 hopeful of pulling off an upset victory over the defending regional champions, but Brossart proved to be too much in handing the Ladycats a 10-0 loss.

Brossart scored early and often as they raced to a 3-0 advantage less than 15 minutes into the first half and would add four more goals before halftime to go up 7-0. Pendleton County's offense would be held in check throughout the game as Brossart controlled possession for most of the night. Following the game, Ladycat seniors Cay Harper and Jaelyn Caudill were named to the All-Tournament team. Pendleton County finishes with a record of 8-7-2 while also notching the program's first district title in nearly a decade.

After the game, emotions were running high as the team's large group of seniors embraced and said farewell to their varsity careers. Team head coach Aaron Harper gathered his girls together and delivered a heartfelt final post-game speech while also reflecting on the season.

"I love you girls like you all are my own daughters," he told them. "Over the past few months I have spent more time with you than I have with my own family. I'm so proud of what you accomplished this season, history was made. I know this loss hurts and it's not how we wanted to end the season but tomorrow is a new day. When you look back on this team always remember how far we came over the past four years together," Harper added.

Looking ahead to 2024, the Ladycats will feature a revamped lineup following numerous departures as they look to defend their district title.
