Ladycats honor seniors, notch three more victories

 The Ladycats regular season will close out this week, as they play their last few games before the district tournament begins. This past week, the team went 3-1 with wins over Gallatin County, Augusta, and Nicholas County. They would suffer a tough loss to district rival Harrison County.

 On September 25, Pendleton County put up a tough and long fight against Gallatin County, which resulted in a 3-1 win (25-14, 22-25, 25-8, 25-12). Offensively, the team was led by senior outside hitter Skyla Harrison who had 12 kills; defensively, Harrison contributed 11 digs as well. Allison Aulick also racked up nine kills. Senior setter Lindsey Arkenau dished out 17 assists in the win. Defensively, the team was led by the work of junior libero Madison Verst who had 16 digs; offensively, Verst racked up 12 aces as well. Kearstin Mayer aided the defense with her 14 digs also.

 Despite having won a set, the Ladycats fell short in a 3-1 loss to Harrison County (25-14, 25-15, 19-25, 26-24) on September 26. The team put up a fight, which resulted in a large accumulation of kills and digs. Skyla Harrison had nine kills and 18 digs. Allison Aulick made a statement for the Ladycats in having 11 kills, 11 assists, three blocks, and 16 digs. Lindsey Arkenau dished out 16 assists and 10 digs. Kearstin Mayer racked up 14 kills and 14 digs. Madison Verst dished out seven assists and accumulated a career high 38 digs in the game. The Ladycats will hope to face the Fillies again, with their next opportunity being in the district championship.

 Pendleton County defeated Augusta 3-0 (25-10, 25-23, 25-18) on September 27 to capture their 13th win of the season. Prior to the game, the contributions made to the program by seniors Lindsey Arkenau and Skyla Harrison were celebrated. In the win, Allison Aulick played a role in several points with her five kills, 14 assists, three blocks, nine digs, and four aces. Skyla Harrison contributed seven kills, seven digs, and two aces. Kearstin Mayer led the team in kills with 11 and contributed 11 digs as well. Lindsey Arkenau had 11 assists. Gracie Cotterman racked up six kills as well. Madison Verst led the defense with 26 digs and contributed four aces and three assists also.

 The Ladycats defeated Nicholas County by forfeit due to a miscommunication with officials because of the reschedule from earlier this season.

 Fans will have three opportunities to catch the Ladycats in action this week as they look to finish strong on the home stretch before district tournament play begins next week. The team will travel to Campbell County on October 3 to take on the Lady Camels. The next day, the Ladycats will then return to their home court to take on Holmes. The team will then be on the road again on October 5 as they travel to take on Bellevue in their regular season finale. Be sure to show the Ladycats some support!
