The Pendleton County Ladycats soccer team scored perhaps their biggest win in nearly a decade following their 4-1 victory at home over district rival Harrison County on August 16.

The Ladycats last defeated the Fillies in October 2014 and had dropped 13 straight matchups by a staggering combined score of 89-8.

The Ladycats took control of the match early as senior midfielder Ava Record made the first goal of the game. This was just what the Ladycats needed and set the tone of the game.  They worked and passed the ball getting several more shots on goal before junior Jordan Mitchell passed the ball into the middle were midfielder Addison Mitchell connected and scored the second goal of the first half. Pendleton County would go into halftime leading 2-0.

The Ladycats took the field the second half and looked ready and strong. They would go onto control possession for the remainder of the game. After getting a penalty just outside the box, junior forward Sarah Blackaby put the ball into the back of the net which made the score 3-0.  Harrison County would avoid a shutout as they did score one midway through the second half.  Senior forward Caylin Harper made a run up the field and made a great shot scoring the fourth and final goal of the game.  Senior goalkeeper Maddy Musk recorded three saves and allowed one goal.

Following the historic win, team head coach Aaron Harper said that he was very impressed with how the girls played as a team. They passed, got first touches and won the ball on plays which controlled the game.

On August 19, the Ladycats traveled north to take on Scott and would be handed a lopsided 9-0 loss. This week, the Ladycats host Grant County on August 23 and will travel to face Ludlow August 25.
