James Priest, 81, Falmouth

James Wesley Priest, 81, of Falmouth, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2006, at the Edgemont Healthcare Center in Cynthiana. Born on April 2, 1925, in Lima, Ohio, he was the son of the late Clark F. and Naomi Wilson Priest. He married Evelyn Thompson Priest on March 4, 1951, and his dear wife survives his passing.

He retired from Newport Steel after 27 years of service, and he also served in the Merchant Marine during World War II. He was a member of the Salem Ridge Wesleyan Church, Bracken County, and the Hardin Browning Post #109.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Clark Fremont Priest and William (Bill) Priest and his sister, Juanita Hadden.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, Evelyn Priest, he leaves his son, David Lee (Delana) Priest and his daughter, Linda E. (Jerry) Sargent, both of Falmouth; three grandchildren: Melanie Priest Kilburn, Alice Priest Harrison, and Michael Priest; 9 great grandchildren: David, Justin, and Bobby Kilburn, Kandi, Patricia, John, Brandon, and Benjamin Harrison, and Derek Dawson; and one sister: Vivian Boyman of Lima, Ohio.

Funeral services were held on Friday, September 22, 2006 at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth with Rev. Robert Welker officiating. The pallbearers were Ronald Redden, Steven Redden, Gary Thompson, Michael Priest, Gregg Markley, Thomas Ramsey, and Jackie McElfresh. Interment took place in the Lenoxburg Cemetery, Bracken County, with full military honors by the Hardin-Browning Post #109.

American Legion Post 109 and V.F.W. Post 1978 and D.A.V. Post held full military services for Mr. James Wesley Priest at the Lenoxburg Cemetery on September 22, 2006. Mr. Priest served in the United States Merchant Marine in World War II.

Glenn E. Mason, 73, DeMossville

Glenn Earl Mason, 73, of DeMossville, Kentucky, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, September 21, 2006. Glenn was born on July 15, 1933 to Lillian Collier Mason and the late Estill Mason. He was a member of the Unity Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee and loved his church and church family dearly. Glenn served in the United States Army during the Korean War and worked 48 years for Recto Plastic Molding Inc., in Oakley, Ohio.

He was the devoted husband of Mary Louise Bowen for over 53 years and the beloved father of Rodney (Lana) Mason of Williamstown, Ky., Mike (Sharon) Mason of DeMossville, Darlene (L.R.) Faulkner of Falmouth, Kandy (Bud) O'Hara of DeMossville and Amy (Brian) Parker of Walton. Glenn was preceded in death by his father, Estill Mason, sisters Valerie Mason and Margaret Ratliff and a granddaughter, Marissa O'Hara. He is survived by his wife Mary Louise Mason, his five children, a brother Robert, and sisters Velma, Katherine, Louise, Brenda, Pattie, Pamela and Sharon. Glenn is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren. His grandchildren were a constant joy to him and would always bring a smile to his face.

Funeral services were conducted on Monday, September 25, 2006 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown by Rev. Bobby Barnes. Interment took place in the Gardnersville Cemetery, Pendleton County.

Homer E. Elliott, 97, Butler

Homer E. "Easy" Elliott, 97, of Butler, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the River Valley Nursing Home in Butler, Ky. Born on December 15, 1908, he was the son of the late Buford and Mollie Rainey Elliott. He was retired from Williamson Heater Co. in Cincinnati, where he worked for 35 years. He was a member of the Grassy Creek Christian Church.

He is survived by a son; Terry (Carolyn) Elliott, of Butler, Ky., 2 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 1 sister; Geneva Vanlandingham of Wilder, Ky.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. at Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth with Rev. Don Mays officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery. The visitation will take place on Tuesday from 11-12:00 p.m.

Allen D. Harney, 77, Williamstown

Allen D. Harney, 77, of Williamstown, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Grant County after a short illness. He was born in Erlanger, Ky., on September 20, 1929, son of the late Allen Emery and Zitta Marie Staggs Harney. He married Hazel Brock Harney on March 20, 1950, and his wife survives his passing. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Dennis Harney, in 1994. He retired from the United States Navy as a leuitenant in 1972, after 27 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Brock Harney of Williamstown; a son, Allen David Harney Jr., of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Carl Harney of Ludlow.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge, Ky., with military honors by American Legion Post #109 of Falmouth. Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown, is serving the family.

Harry V. Kelly, 76, Latonia

Harry Vincent Kelly, 76, of Latonia, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2006 at Rosedale Manor in Latonia. He was a retired electrician with the Covington Housing Authority and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society of Florida.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean Kelly; daughters, Susan Kelly Gilbert of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Monica Kelly of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla; a son, H. Vincent Kelly of West Palm Beach, Fla; brothers, Charles Kelly of Falmouth, Alfred Kelly and Gerald Kelly, both of Cincinnati; sisters, Ann Kelly and Mary Fiorini, both of Cincinnati; and two grandchildren.

Memorial Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at Holy Cross Church in Latonia. Mr. Kelly bequeathed his body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Inez D. Fields, 96, Robertson Co.

Inez Deane Fields, age 96, a resident of the Robertson County Health Care Facility, formerly of Bracken County, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at the nursing home. Born in Harrison County on January 31, 1910, to the late Harry Barnes and Vada Jennett Barnes Culp, she was a retired schoolteacher and a member of Neave United Methodist Church. Mrs. Fields was a Kentucky Colonel, a Georgetown College graduate, a member of the Retired Teacher's Association and a recipient of the United Methodist Women's Woman of the Year Award. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Fields; two brothers, A.J. Barnes and Harry Barnes and three sisters, Christine Fralix, Loraine Moreland and Mildred Woodward.

She is survived by a son, Robert Wayne (Lois) Fields of Bracken County; two sisters, Cynthia Moorhead, Maysville and Lela Brough of Robertson County; three grandchildren, Steven Wayne (Dianne) Fields, Gregory Scott Fields and Sherry (Hans) Acuff and five great grandchildren, Jhan Josef Acuff, Alisha Acuff, Krystin Fields, Robbie Fields and Lauren Fields.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, September 24, 2006 at the Neave United Methodist Church, by Dr. E. Ray Throckmorton. Interment took place in the Neave Cemetery, under the direction of Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana.
