Paul Craig, 77, Butler

Paul V. Craig, 77, Butler, Ky. passed away Sunday, May 20, 2007 at his home.

Paul was born in Pendleton County, July 16, 1929 son of the late Stanley (Cutty) and Anna Clark Craig.

He was a member of Plum Creek Christian Church, served as Elder, and Sunday School teacher. Also, a member of the Pendleton County Golf Course and A.J. Jolly Golf Course.

Survivors include his dear wife, Margie Craig, Butler, sons; Rick Craig, Butler, Mick Craig, Butler. Sisters; Norma Johnson, Butler, Juanita Viers, Butler, and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 22, 2007 from 4-8 p.m. at Plum Creek Christian Church. Services will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2007 at 11 p.m. Plum Creek Christian Church. Final resting place at the Plum Creek Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to go to Plum Creek Christian Church, 13455 Alexandria Pk. Butler, Ky. 41006.

Rose Center, 85, Lakeside Park

Rose B. Center, age 85 of Lakeside Park, Ky. passed away May 13, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Edgewood.

She resided in Lakeside Park, as a housewife and farmer and had served as a WWII Army Veteran.

Mrs. Center was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Center, Sr.; a brother, Richard Sebastian, and sister, Clara Allen.

Survivors include a son, Roy Center Jr., of Las Vegas, Nev., a daughter, Sandra Center of Lakeside Park, brother, John Sebastian of Middletown, Ohio, sisters, Susan Turner of Wolfe Coal, Ky., Hannah Sebastian of Jackson, Ky., and Elizabeth Herald of Butler. Six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Linneman Funeral Home in Erlanger, from 5-8 p.m. May 16, 2007. Services were on the following day, Thursday, May 17, 2007 at 10:30 a.m.

Interment was in Highland Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell.

Bill Collins, 72, Alexandria

Bill Collins, 72, Alexandria, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at St. Luke East Hospice, Ft. Thomas.

He was a Machinist and a Kentucky Colonel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Melissa Collins.

Survivors include his wife, Texas Collins, Alexandria, daughters; Debra Chowning, Alexandria, and Billie Wolfe, Huge, Minn., sisters; Helen Slusher, Florida, Lois Jean Profitt, Somerset, and Shirley Burns, Whitesburg. Brothers; Bennie Collins, Ft. Mitchell, Paul Collins, Wilder, and Carol Collins, New Richmond, Ohio.

Visitation was held May 18, 2007 at Alexandria Funeral Home. Services followed.

Interment was at John's Hill Cemetery, Wilder.

Shirley Sullender, 83, Cold Spring

Shirley Fern Sullender, 83, Cold Spring, Ky. passed away May 10, 2007 at her home.

She was born in Cincinnati, Oh. March 4, 1924, the daughter of the late Emmit and Ruth Grant Donohoe.

She was a homemaker and member of Jehovah Witness, Taylor Mill, Ky.

Survivors include: husband, Frank Sullender Sr., Cold Spring, Ky.; son, Frank (Robin) Sullender Jr., Melbourne, Ky.; brother, Orin Donohoe, Grants Lick, Ky.; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held May 14 at Kingdom Hall, Taylor Mill, Ky. Interment was in Alexandria Cemetery.
Peoples Funeral Home, Butler/Grants Lick, was in charge of arrangements.

 

Ezra Lee Work, 81, Williamstown

Ezra Lee Work, 81, of Williamstown, Ky., passed away May 20, 2007 at Grant Manor Nursing Facility, Will-iamstown.

He was a retired laborer for Equitable Bag, Florence and a WWII Army Veteran. He was a member of the Kentucky Horse Shoe Association and served as Deacon at the Knoxville Baptist Church, Williamstown.

Mr. Work was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Mae Work, a daughter, Regina Lynn Work, and two grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Nelson Curtis Work, Dry Ridge; daughters, Linda Lee Thomas, Williamstown, Phyllis Ann Scroggins, Dry Ridge, Donna Gail King, Falmouth, and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be at the Knoxville Baptist Church, 110 E. Fairview Rd., Williamstown, from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2007. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 4 p.m.

William Norman Meyer, 81, Burlington

William Norman Meyer, 81, Burlington, Ky. passed away Friday, May 11, 2007 at his residence.

He was owner/operator of Campers Corner-RV's in Cincinnati, Ohio, a Navy WWII veteran, member of the Newport Elks, Bob White Sportsman's Club, the Ohio Grower's Assn., and the Holy Name Society. In 1964, he organized a food drive that became the grassroots of the Christian Appalacian Project.

Mr. Meyer was preceded in death by parents, Aloyisius and Virginia Meyer.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann (Hoppenjans) Meyer, Burlington, sons; Bill Meyer, Jr., Shelbyville, In., Tony Meyer, Paris, and Chris Meyer of Falmouth. daughters; Lynn Wurtz, Florence, and Cathy Hebbeler, Park Hills, 15 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

Visitation was held May 14, 2007 at Mary Queen of Heaven Church in Erlanger, services following. Interment was in St. Mary Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. A.C. Dobbling Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.

 

Florence McMillian, 94, Mt. Healthy

Florence McMillian, 94, from Mt. Healthy, Ohio, formerly of Falmouth, passed away May 17, 2007 at Manor Care Health in Cincinnati.

She was born in Pendleton County on November 12, 1912, daughter of the the late Fred and Minnie Simpson Vessing.

Mrs. McMillian was retired from Butler Rest Home in Butler, and a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
Preceded in death by her husband, Claude McMillian, and a son, Ralph Vessing, Sr.

Survivors include a daughter, Minnie Ann Howard, Florida, four grandaughters; Cindy Howard, Jane Gossett, Jeana Windhorst, Ralph Vessing, Jr. and five great grandchildren.

Visitation was held May 19, 2007 at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth, with services following. Final resting place at Gardnersville Cemetery, Pendleton County.

 

Walter M. Peters, 83, Alexandria

Walter Peters, age 83 of Alexandria, Ky. passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at St. Luke East-Hospice Unit in Ft. Thomas, Ky.

He was retired from Interlake Steel as a Locomotive Engineer and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Etta Mullins Peters.

Survivors include his dear wife, Marie Peters of Alexandria. His daughters, Patricia Barker, Florence, Betty Rudy, Cincinnati, Ohio, Brenda Sheffield, Santa Ana, Calif.; Barbara Scully of Newport, and Robin Beiting, California. Sons are Ray Peters of Cold Spring, and Frank Peters of Florence. His sister, Emma Jean Peters from Berea.

Visitation will be 4-8pm, Sunday, May 20 at Alexandria Funeral Home. Services held at the Funeral Home on Monday, May 21, at 12:00 p.m.

Mr. Peters will be laid to rest at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Taylor Mill.

Mary Sabie Baynum, 75, California

Mary Baynum, age 75 of California, Ky., passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at St. Luke Hospital East in Ft. Thomas, Ky.

Mary was born in Covington, Ky. June 17,1931. She was the daughter of the late William T. and Daisey Caldwell Sabie.

She was a homemaker, custodian for 20 plus years at the AJ Jolly School, and a member of Oakland United Methodist Church.

Married to her husband, Eugene Baynum, May 10, 1958 who preceded her in death on June 11, 2006. Also preceding her in death are brothers, Carl Sabie and Bill Sabie, sisters, Margaret Nelson and Ruth Nelson.

Survivors include: sons, Russell Baynum, California, and Ronald Baynum, California.

Visitation will be from 11-1p.m. Saturday, May 19 at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler.

Final resting place will be Wesley Chapel Cemetery, California, Ky.

Lucille Sharp, 86, Alexandria

Lucille Sharp, 86, passed away Monday, May 14, 2007 at her residence in Alexandria, Ky.

She was retired from Fluid Control in Mentor, Ohio as an assembler, a member of the Persimmon Grove Baptist Church and former member of Headlands Baptist Church.

Mrs. Sharp was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse F. Sharp and a grandson, Kevin Sharp. Also, her parents, William and Eula (Lovins) Anderson, sister, Evelyn Glard-on, brother, Herald Anderson. She has 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Persimmon Grove Baptist Church in Alexandria on Thursday, May 17, 2007. Interment was in Persimmon Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Dorothy Reeves, Oklahoma

Mrs. Dororthy Reeves, 89, of Pocola, Ok. passed away May 15, 2007.

She was born on April 25, 1918 in Knox Co., Ky to Grover Jackson and Emma (Hurst) Jackson.

She is the widow of Charles Benjamin Kelly and was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, Charles, five brothers, Clint, Charles, Lilburn, Arnold and Kenneth, three sisters, Lois Burnett, Mable Blackaby and Delcie Roberts.

Survivors include, son, Vaughn Kelley (Shelly), grandson, Charles (Amanda) Kelley, and two great grandchildren all of Pocola. A brother, Elmer Jackson, Taylor Mill, sister, Irene Caldwell, Florence.

Visitation was held May 18, 2007 with services May 19, 2007. Interment was held at the Jackson Garland Cemetery in Cannon, Ky.
