Gary Wayne Rapp, 63, Butler

Gary Wayne Rapp, 63, of Butler, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the St. Luke East Hospital.
He was the son of the late John and Verna Dawson Rapp. He was President of Pendleton County Fair Club, Treasurer of Pendleton County 4-H Council and a delegate of Dairy Farmers of America.

Gary was preceded in death by his daughter, Karma Jean Rapp.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Rapp of Butler; a daughter, Amy Ellen Daugherty of Butler; a brother, John Alford Rapp of Foster; a sister, Sarah Jane Rapp of Moorsville, Ind.; mother-n-law, Nannie Jenkins of Butler; several nieces and nephews and four grandchildren, Kurtis Edward Baker, Katie Jean Colemire, Trenton Wayne Daugherty, Hayley Ellen Daugherty.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Peoples Funeral Home. Pallbearers in attendance were; Trent Daugherty, Kurtis Baker, Kelly Jenkins, Casey Jenkins, Stacey Jenkins, Brad Daugherty, Wayne Razor, Todd Daugherty and Greg Rapp. Honorary Pallbearers were; Charlie Jenkins, Doug Daugherty, P.C. Fair Board, P.C. 4-H Council, John Simpson, Kevin Colemire, Barry Lusty and John Alford Rapp.

Burial took place at Concord Cemetery in Falmouth.

Military services were held for Rapp. American Legion Post 109 and V.F.W. Post 1978 and D.A.V. Post members held full military services for Mr. Gary Wayne Rapp at the Concord Cemetery, Falmouth Ky on May 10, 2008.

Mr. Rapp served in the United States Navy in the Vietnam War. To Mr. Gary Wayne Rapp we honor and salute you. To the family we offer our sympathy.

Mary Jane Wolfe, 81, Falmouth

Mary Jane Rose Wolfe, 81, of Falmouth, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the River Valley Nursing Home in Butler. She was the daughter of the late Harry Lee and Effie Jane Winkle Rose. She was a retired store clerk where she worked for Wyatt's and Lermans Dept. Store and a member of the Trinity Southern Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben F. Wolfe; a step-daughter, Peggy King; three brothers, Joe Paul Rose, Bob Rose and Newt Rose.

Mary is survived by a daughter; Carol Ann (Kenneth) Roberts of Falmouth; a son, Leslie Wayne Cornelius of Falmouth; four step-children, Geraldine Wagner of Brooksville, Roger Wolfe of Brooksville, Terry Wolfe of Union, Judy Devers of Cynthiana; a brother, Fred Rose of Williamstown; a sister, Mae Hall of Butler; eight grandchildren, Sharon Roberts, Melanie Fangman, Diana Grassman, Keith Roberts, Mark Roberts, Gregory Scott Cornelius, Nicholas Wayne Cornelius, Lesley Lee Cornelius, five great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and many step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth with Bro. Dale Bobb and Bro. Conrad Herfner officiating.

Burial will follow in the Turner Ridge Cemetery in Pendleton County. Pallbearers for the service will be Scott Cornelius, Nicholas Cornelius, Rand Grassman, Ron Fangman, Keith Roberts, and Mark Roberts.

Parker Peddicord, 78, Albany, Ky

Parker Wayne Peddicord, 78, of Albany, Ky, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the home of his son, Stephen T. (Dr. Carol) Peddicord in Albany, KY. He was a Department Manager for 15 years with McAlpin's and retired from Federated Department Stores in 1987. Parker Wayne was born in Brooksville. He was the son of the late Parker Colvin and Dessie Peddicord. He graduated from Brooksville High School in 1948. He received his BS Degree in Commerce from the University of Kentucky in 1959. He was a four year veteran in the Korean Conflict and served on the USS Philippine Sea. He was a member of the VC 61 Squadron and attended their reunion every year. He was a member of the Gardenside Baptist Church since 1967. He was a member of the American Legion and Charter member of the Kentucky Gelbvieh Association and a member of the National Gelbvieh Association. In 1989 he was made a Kentucky Colonel. He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Emma Taylor Peddicord; two sons, Stephen Parker (Dr. Carol) Peddicord of Albany, Ky, Ronald Edward (Jill) Peddicord, of South Lake, Texas; four grandsons, Thomas Parker Peddicord, Michael Stephen Peddicord, Zachary Adam Peddicord, and Lucas Taylor Peddicord; one sister, Martha Peddicord of Brooksville; and a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Rd., Lexington, Ky by Bro. James Heard and Bro. Gary Figgins.

Burial took place in Bracken Memorial Cemetery in Brooksville. Sharon Iles, 65, Alexandria

Sharon Elise (Vater) Iles, 65, of Alexandria, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2008, at Saint Luke East Hospice in Fort Thomas. She was a retired School Teacher from Campbell County High School Alexandria. She was a pianist and choir member of Christ Baptist Church in Cold Spring. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. Sharon loved literature and poetry, accomplished seamstress and cook, she participated in the National Spelling Bee when she was in the 8th grade.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Iles.

Sharon is survived by daughters, Elizabeth Iles of Alexandria, Sarah (Iles) Blan of Central Asia; a son, Nathan Iles of Geneva, Ill.; two brothers, Noble D. Vater of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Norbert L. Vater of Florence.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13 at the Alexandria Funeral Home in Alexandria.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Christ Baptist Church in Cold Spring.

Interment will take place at Alexandria Cemetery in Alexandria.

Jack Turner, 60, Falmouth

Jack Turner, 60, of Falmouth, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2008 at his home.

He was the son of the late Walter Jackson and Betty Jeanne Washburn Turner. He was a member of the American Legion Post 109 and the Task Force Omega formerly called the Rolling Thunder. He also was a volunteer at the St. Luke Alcohol Treatment Center.

Jack is survived by sons, Scott (Julia) Turner of Walton, Michael (April) Turner of Verona, Thomas Turner of Elizabethtown, Walter J. Turner III of Elizabethtown; brothers, Tom Turner of Witchita, Kan., Rick Turner of Bethel, Ohio, Calvin Turner of Witchita, Kan., Robert Turner of Vine Grove, Ky.; sisters, Mary Miller of Goshen, Ohio, Elizabeth Gruenwald of Witchita, Kan., Rebecca Holt of Florence and twelve grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Peoples Funeral Home in Falmouth.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2008 also at the funeral home.

Maxine Dick, 79, Augusta

Maxine Dick, 79, of Augusta, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Meadowview. She was the daughter of the late Chester and Georgia Haddix Watkins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Dick; two sisters, Lois Watkins and Irene Colyer; and two brothers, Lee Watkins and Buck Watkins.

She is survived by her two sons, Gilbert Hall of Augusta and Tommy Fields of Georgetown, Ohio; sisters,Dora Allender of Maysville, Kathleen Lockard of Columbus, Ohio, Sue Watkins of Sardinia, Ohio; a brother, Bill Watkins of Dover, Ky; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Moore & Parker Funeral Home in Brooksville.

Lester Wright, 83, Morning View

Lester A. Wright, 83, of Morning View, passed away Monday, May 5, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood.

He was a U.S. Navy WWII Veteran and a retired pipefitter for Doc Rusk Heating.

Lester is survived by his wife, Anna Breeden Wright of Morning View; a daughter, Linda Maxey of Morning View; nine grandchildren and eleven great granchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. Burial took place at Wilmington Cemetery.

Raymond L. Lawson, 72, Ohio

Raymond L. Lawson,72, of Pierce Township, passed away Friday, May 2, 2008. He was a Kentucky Colonel.

He is survived by his wife, Lois A. Lawson (nee Franke); daughters, Tina (Richard) Gullett and Kimberly (Greg Kinman) Hewitt; brothers, Marvin, Johnny, Gradey (Joan) and Clarence (Sandy) Lawson, Lester and Sterling Lawson; sisters, Nellie (George) Acres, Roxie Howard, Willo Bea Rooker, Florence Gradel;grandchildren, Nicole (Gary) Kinman, Christopher (Tamara) Gullett and Derrick Gullett and one great grandchild, Zachary Kinman.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the E.C. Nurre Funeral Home in Amelia, Ohio.

Richard Joseph, 65, Alexandria

Richard "Richie" Joseph, 65, of Alexandria, passed away Monday, May 12, 2008 at University of Cincinnati Hospital.

He was the son of the late Albert and Mable Jamell Joseph. He was a member of the Pendleton County Country Club, the Sportsman Club, an active member of The Masons and the Bow Masters and Fisherman and Hunter clubs. He loved to ride his motorcycle.

Richard is survived by his wife, Phyllis Joseph of Alexandria; daughters, Kelly (Elmer) Utz of Butler, Melody Joseph Pelle of Butler; step-brothers, Keith Black of Ind., Kenneth Black of Cincinnati; sisters, Melba Younger of Cincinnati, Faye Hebel of Cincinnati and three grandchildren, Christopher Pelle, Paige Pelle and Sydney Utz.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler.

Funeral services will follow also at the funeral home. Services will be under full military honors.

Raymond "Newt" Asbury Poe, 84, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008. He was the son of the late Isaac and Nora Hinson Poe. He was a WWII veteran and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Augusta.

Raymond was preceded in death by his son, Gary W Poe; brothers, Disher Poe, Allen "Tate" Poe, Glenn Poe; sisters, Irene Doyle, Ida Taylor, Vivian Jackson, and Nancy Lusby.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Taylor Poe; a son, Dane A. (Connie) Poe of Lexington; daughter, Melanie K. (Jerry) Thornsbury; daughter-in-law, Linda Poe of Florence; two sisters, Joyce Schweitzer of Augusta and Juanita Halsey of Crittenden; eight grandchildren, Kyle B. Poe, Lisa Bloomer, Brian C. Poe, Jason E. Poe, Eric Thornsbury, Shannon Thornsbury, Nathan R. Poe, and Kip A. Poe; five great grandchildren, Kalin Poe, Bryce Allen Thornsbury, Taylor Davis, Felicia Thornsbury, and Logan White.
