John Henry Schwartz, 79, Butler

John Henry Schwartz, 79, of Butler, Ky entered into Heaven Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at the St. Elizabeth South Hospital in Edgewood, Ky.

John was born in Grants Lick on January 14, 1929. He is the son of the late Henry J. and Mary L. Gosney Schwartz.

He retired from ITT in Norwood, Ohio and Adkins Pearce in Covington. John was a member of the Flour Creek Christian Church, avid eucher and cornhole player, golfer, and loved to farm and help others. Heaven is a better place with his presence.

John was married to Jewell Courtney Schwartz for 57 years.

He is preceeded in death by brothers: Theodore "Ted" Schwartz and William Sargent Schwartz; Sister Alverna Westermeyer.

Survivors include son, Mark (Sherry Gail) Schwartz, Butler; Daughter, Sherry (Robert) Wilder, Fort Mitchell; Sisters: Rosetta Florence, Grants Lick, Clementine Heringer, California, Ky, Christine Schmidt, Alexandria. Two grandchildern, John Tyler Schwartz and Alyson (Sean) Binder.

Services were held Saturday April 12, 2008, at Flour Creek Christian Church in Butler. Interment took place at Downard Cemetery, Bracken County, Ky.

George H. Taylor, 90, California


George H. Taylor, age 90, of California, Ky., passed away Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Saint Luke East Hospice in Fort Thomas, Ky. Mr. Taylor was a WWII Army Veteran. He was a retired fabricator for Cincinnati Fab/Weld and a Member Carthage of Council #95 Jr. O.U.A.M. George was preceded in death by his wife Minnie Asbury Taylor, 2 daughters: Judy Kennish and Bonnie L. Welch and two sons, Duane E. Mosley and Steven J. Mosley.

He is survived by his two daughters, Phyllis Rooney of Erlanger, Minnie Styer of California. Two sons, Bill E. Mosley of Falmouth, George Mosley of California. Twenty one grandchildren, thirty four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at the Alexandria Funeral Home Monday, April 14, 2008. Keith Blair officiated. Interment took place in Alexandria Cemetery Alexandria, Ky. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

 

James Dale Peddicord, 43, Walton

James Dale Peddicord, 43, of Walton, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at his home.

Born in Kenton County, Kentucky on October 23, 1964, he was a son of Flora Taulbee Peddicord and the late Hanly June Peddicord, Jr. He was a landscaper and an employee at the Port of Cincinnati.

In addition to his mother, Flora Peddicord of Walton, he is survived by his daughter, Jessica Elizabeth Peddicord of Erlanger; two sisters: Donna (James) Anglin of Walton, and Angela (Mark) Waller of Verona; one brother, Jeffrey Glenn Peddicord of Verona; two nieces: Christie Moellman and Tasha Anglin and one nephew, Austin Waller.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 12, 2008,at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Keith Reynolds officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Jeffrey Peddicord, Austin Waller, Chris Peddicord, Tony Rarrieck, Doug Slider, and Dale Slider.

Interment took place in the Morgan Cemetery, Pendleton County.

 

William Huffman, 69, Berry

William Thomas (Poss.) Huffman, 69, of Berry, passed away on April 11, 2008, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington following heart surgery. Born in Harrison County, Kentucky on March 9, 1939, he was the son of the late Ash and Evelyn Porter Huffman. He was a lifelong farmer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Gene Huffman, Ray Porter, and Donnie Huffman; a sister, Janice Huffman; and three nephews: Johnny Smith, Ashley Huffman, and Bradley Huffman.

In addition to his wife, Marilyn Whitaker Huffman, he leaves his daughter, Emily Frances (Brandon Milner) Huffman of Berry; three step-children: Ginny Huffman, Charles Huffman, and Ethan Huffman, all of Berry ; a special grandson, Eli (Dip) Marsh; three brothers: Jimmy Huffman, Ronnie Huffman, and Shearl Huffman, all of Berry and two sisters: Bonnie Smith of Paris, and Helen Huffman of Lexington.

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 14, 2008, at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry, with Rev. Larry Jones officiating. The pallbearers were Scotty Milner, Josh Milner, Andrew Milner, Jerry Dennis, Ernie Cummins, Jimmy Howard, Austin Milner, and Eli Marsh. The honorary pallbearers were Richard Dennis, Jr. Nichols, Marshall Nichols, Mike Nichols, Jr. Manley, Randall Dennis, Mitchell Whitaker, Kenny Williams, and Bill Milner. Interment took place in the Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry.

 

Delbert H. Bell, 71, Florence

Delbert H. Bell, 71, of Florence, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the St. Elizabeth Hospice Center in Edgewood.

He was the son of the late Robert and Adele Ritchie Bell, and a short order cook for 46 years in Chicago, Ill., and a veteran of the Korean Conflict as a member of United States Air Force.

Delbert is survived by three sons, Dale Alan (Sandra) Bell of Tucson, Ariz., William Scott Bell of Jacksonville, Fla, Jeffrey Keith (Dusty) Bell of Falmouth; brother, Erdie Bell of Stillville, Mo.; four sisters, Laveda Ruth Bell Buffalo of Madison, Ark., Verna Evelyn Bell Masterson of Florence, Betty J. Bell of Falmouth and Carletta Faye Wells of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Michael Walczak II (Tucson), Amanda and Aimee Kelly, and Robby Crysel all of Falmouth. Funeral Services were held Monday, April, 2008 at Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth. Honorary pallbearers were Jeffrey K. Bell, Dale A. Bell, Brian Wells, William S. Bell, Robby Crysel and William D. Fonner.

Interment will full military honors by the Hardin-Browning Post #109 took place in the Bartersville Cemetery in Nicholas County. Chaplin Shelby McDowell Officiated.

 

Mildred Louise Doyle Mains, 72, Augusta

Mildred Louise Doyle Mains, 72, of Augusta died Monday, April 7, 2008. She was born in Mason County on Sept. 1, 1935 the daughter of the late Jesse and Mildred Irene Poe Doyle.

Mildred was retired as a waitress with Ole Country Inn in Germantown. She was a member of the Germantown United Methodist Church and the Germantown Britesiders Homemakers.

She was the widow of Delbert Mains who died on December 23, 2000.

Mildred is survived by her children: Tony (Jeanne) Mains of Milford, Ky; Susan (Stephen) Carlisle of Maysville; Mark (Amy) Mains of Augusta and Michael (Dawn) Mains of Maysville.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jerome (Denise) Mains, Jeremy (Anita) Mains, Becky (Jason) Tuel, Stephanie Carlisle, Jonathan Carlisle, Zachary Mains, Austin Mains, Jessica Mains, Sarah Mains, Hannah Mains, Justin Mains and her great grandchildren: Lindsey, Joseph, Thomas and Nicholas Mains and Hailee Tuel.

Mildred is survived by her brothers: Bobby (Abra "Dumpy") Doyle of Germantown and Danny (Bonnie) Doyle of Augusta and sister in law: Mary Ann Doyle of Germantown. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Sarah and Eric Carlisle and a brother Billy Doyle and David Doyle.

Services were held Thursday at the Germantown United Methodist Church. Visitation was held Wednesday at the Palmer Funeral Home, in Germantown, and Thursday at the church. Ada Weber, 89, Butler

Ada Weber of Butler formerly of Mentor passed away Saturday at the River Valley Nursing Home in Butler. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mentor Baptist Church. Her husband Stanley Weber preceeded her in death.

Survivors include son Darrell Weber of Arlington, Texas; Daughter, Carolyn Smith of Mentor, Ky. Five grandchildren and five great-children.

Services will be Wednesday at 11a.m., Cooper Funeral Home in Alexandria, Ky. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Cooper Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Grandview Cemetery in Mentor, Ky.

Lucille Teegarden McElfresh, 77, Brooksville

Lucille Teegarden McElfresh, 77, of Brooksville passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008. She was born in Milford, Kentucky, on March 25, 1931, the daughter of the late Albert and Velma Lucas Teegarden. She was a homemaker and a retired cook.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard G. McElfresh. Three brothers and a sister: Hank, Jay, and Richard Teegarden, and Alberta Clayton.

Lucille is survived by four sons: Tom (Carol) McElfresh of Falmouth, Marty (Becky) McElfresh of Brooksville, Brian (Mychelle) McElfresh and Scotty McElfresh both of Foster. She is also Survived by 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also surviving are two brothers Billy and James Teegarden of Brooksville. Two sisters, Christine Biddle of Falmouth, and Joyce Murray of Maysville.

Services were held April 6, 2008 at Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Burial took place at Johnsville Cemetery, Foster. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope.

 

Robert C. Dickerson Jr., 81, Butler

Robert C. Dickerson, Jr., 81, of Butler, passed away, Sunday, April 13, 2008 at St. Luke East Hospital in Ft. Thomas.

He was the son of the late Robert and Edna Oborn Dickerson. He was an employee of the Kentucky State Highway Department for 30 years. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Masonic Lodge F & AM Boone Union Lodge No. 304.

Robert was preceeded in death by brothers, Richard Dickerson and William Dickerson.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janet Dickerson; daughters, Arlene Johnson of Butler, Brenda Neal of Bright, Indiana; sons, Robbie Dickerson of Butler, Tim Dickerson of Butler and Gary Neal, Union; sisters, Judy Whisman of Walton, Joyce Trapp of Walton and Norma Sandfoss of Florence; brothers, Charles Dickerson of Haines City, Florida, Gary Dickerson of Independence and Harold Dickerson of Walton; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler. Funeral services will follow at Peoples.

Interment will take place at the Butler Cemetery with Billy Matthews officiating the service.

Serving as pallbearers: Larry McClanahan, Randy Antrobus, Rick Slocum, John Ammerman, Gary Dickerson and Harold Dickerson.

Donnie Turner, 66, Alexandria

Donnie Turner, 66, of Alexandria, Ky passed away Thursday April 10, 2008 at St. Elizabeth South Hospice.

Donnie was a member of the Alexandria Masonic Lodge and Morrisfork Presbyterian Church in Breathit County, Ky. He retired from Reliable Castings.

He is survived by his wife Pat Turner of Alexandria: his mother-in-law Lula Mae Hitch of Alexandria; two children, Vincent Turner of Ft. Thomas and Melissa Simpson of Alexandria; Three brothers: Warren G. Turner of Booneville, Ky, JC Turner of Sharonville, Ohio; two sisters Louise Turner of Austin, Ind. and Georgia Riley of Booneville, Ky, and four grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Cooper Funeral Home in Alexandria, Ky. Burial followed at the Warren G. Turner Cemetery.

 

Mary Catherine Becker, 81, Ft. Thomas

Mary Catherine Becker, of Ft. Thomas, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008.

Mary was a retired cafeteria worker and a member of Saints Peter & Paul Church in California, Kentucky.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Becker in 1979, and daughter Susan Lanter in 2007.

Mary is survived by daughter, Barbara Brooks of Cincinnati, Ohio, son Jim Becker of California, Kentucky, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held Friday, April 11, 2008. Interment took place at St. Joseph Cemetery Old, Price Hill, Ohio.

 

Charles Trapp, 73, South Carolina

Charles (Chuck) Walter Trapp, 73, of Hilton Head Island, SC passed away Monday, April 7, 2008 at his home of congestive heart failure while watching the basketball finals. He had open heart surgery in 1976.

He was born in Alexandria, Ky on February 9, 1935. He was the son of the late Earl and Edith Kiser Trapp.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hilton Head Island and a charter member and former Deacon of the Main St. Baptist Church of Alexandria, Ky. He was a member of the Over 50's Club, the Gideon's Society, Oleika Shrine of Lexington, Ky., Valley of Covington Scottish Rite, Masonic Lodge #152 of Alexandria, Newport Commandry, Jeffries Council, Temple Chapter, Alexandria Fair Board Member, Volunteer Fire Department of Alexandria, Boy Scout Leader, Lifetime member of Northern Kentucky Athletic Official's Association. He was retired from the Kentucky Department of Transportation. He was the owner of Trapp's Station and he served in the US Navy as part of the commissioning crew and plank owner aboard the USS AEOLUS (ARC-3). He served on the Board of North Kentucky Children's Home and on the Selective Service Board.

He is survived by his wife, Reba; niece and nephew and cousins.
