Bernice Purdy, 79, Falmouth

Bernice Evelyn Piercefield Purdy, 79, of Falmouth, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Edgemont Healthcare Center. She was born in Falmouth on August 2, 1927, daughter of the late James and Anna Lovelace Piercefield. She married Floyd Purdy and her husband preceded her in death. Nephews, Otis Stigall Jr., and Bobby Lee Piercefield and a sister, Gladys Shelton, also preceded her. She formerly worked as a waitress and in the kitchen at the Stop and Tell Restaurant, and ran the Cynthiana drive-in movie. She was also an avid bowler and golfer.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Terry Wells, Becky Brann, Roger Brann, David Brann, Beverly Colvin, Debbie Deaton, Joyce Moore, Lois Crockett, Anna Collins, Carolyn Logan, Jim Stigall, Doug Stigall, Andy Stigall, Charlie Purdy, Randy Hughes, Rocky Hughes, Cyndi Martin and Margie Ice; and sisters-in-law, Jenny Piercefield of Butler and Mae Purdy of Falmouth.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, March 24 at Peoples Funeral Home. Interment took place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.

Anna Lee Williams, 94, Falmouth

Anna Lee Williams, 94, of Falmouth, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2007, at the Edgemont Manor Nursing Home in Cynthiana.. She was born in Pendleton County, Ky., on December 10, 1912, a daughter of the late Harry and Margaret King McClanahan. She was a retired employee of the Dairy Queen in Falmouth and a member of the Antioch Mills Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin O. Williams on March 29, 1995. She was also preceded by sons Marvin Williams on April 16, 2006, and Delmar Lee Williams in infancy.

Survivors include sons, Herman (Wilma) Williams, Adarin (Linda) Williams and Ronnie (Ramona) Williams, all of Falmouth; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27 at Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth by Bro. Bill Wilson. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kyle Williams, Eric Williams, Shawn Williams, Billy Williams, Merrill Williams, and Marvin Williams Jr.

Minnie Chadwell, 95, Falmouth

Minnie Chadwell, 95, of Falmouth, formerly of Trimble, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at St. Luke East Hospital in Fort Thomas. She was born on December 24, 1911, in Trimble, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Isaac Eddy and Rhoda Pearl Gift Lantz and the wife of the late Oris V. Chadwell. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Neva L. Lantz and Edra P. Williams; a brother, Worthel "Boone" Lantz; and an infant brother, Willard Lantz. She was a member of Millfield Christian Church and worked formerly for the Millfield Post Office.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna (Richard) Messick of Falmouth; grandchildren, Chuck (Susan), Mark (Maura), Michele, Richard, Jennifer (Gerald), and Tom; 13 great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter, Moriah; a brother, Rex A. Lantz of Norwalk; and nieces, Clarys Deem of Zanesville, Judith Hall of Trimble, and Lois Jean (Terry) Dugan of Jacksonville.

Funeral Services were held on March 24 at Morrison Funeral Chapel, Glouster-Bi-shopville. Interment took place in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield.

 

Elaine Beighle, 65, Crittenden

Elaine Beighle, 65, of Crittenden, Ky., passed away on Friday, March 23, 2007 at the Veteran's Affairs Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born in Indiana on February 3, 1942, daughter of Garnett Smith and the late Lloyd Thompson. She married Monty Beighle and her husband survives her passing. A brother, Lloyd Curtis Thompson Jr., preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a veteran of the United States Army. She was the president of Grant County Homemakers, member of the Crittenden Homemakers, a member of the Red Hat Society, a Sunday School teacher, Acteen and G.A. Leader. She also was a vacation Bible school teacher.

Survivors include her husband, Monty Beighle; a son, Matthew Beighle of Cordova; a daughter, Lorrie Richerson of Jonesville; her mother, Garnett Smith of Florence; a brother, Jack Thompson of Williamstown, Gregory Holland of Dry Ridge; and grandsons, Alec Richerson of Jonesville, and Ben Beighle, Luke Beighle and Lincoln Beighle, all of Cordova.

Funeral services were held on March 26 at Gardnersville Baptist Church by Rev. Joe Kozar. Interment took place in the Gardnersville Cemetery, under the direction of Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Crittenden.

Michael J. Iles Jr., 34, Crittenden

Michael Joseph Iles Jr., 34, of Crittenden, Ky., passed away on Friday, March 23, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Williamstown. He was a stock clerk for Biggs in Florence.

Survivors include his wife, Terri Iles; his father, Michael Iles of Price Hill, Ohio; his stepmother, Pat Iles; his mother, Mary Thornton of Brooksville; his stepfather, James Thornton; mother and father in-law, Gary and Wanda Golden of Crittenden; brothers, Jimmy Iles of LaGrange and Stephen Iles of Maryland; stepbrothers, William Mattingly of Cincinnati and Bryan Ramey of Williamstown; sisters, Dicie McCailster of Owenton, Candy Helphenstine of Boone Co., Bobbie Jean Iles and Lori Thornton, both of Bracken Co., Jackie Watts of Newport, Jeannette Sreffel of Covington, and her paternal grandmother, Ruth Iles of California, Ky.

Visitation will be held from noon until 2 p.m, the time of funeral service, on Tuesday, March 27 at the Northern Pendleton Fire Department. Interment will take place in the Peach Grove Cemetery, Peach Grove, Ky., under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Grant's Lick.

 

Aerion "Pete" Cain, 70, California

Aerion "Pete" Cain, 70, of California, Ky., passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at his home. He was the son of the late Albert H. and Mary F. Tolle Cain. He married Nellie M. Nicholas (Cain), and his dear wife of 51 years survives him. He was a retired employee of Kahn's of Cincinnati.

Other survivors include a daughter, Joy Dunn of Butler; sons, Ricky Cain, Timothy Cain and Aerion Cain, all of California; sisters, Frances Line of Independence, Margie Singleton of Taylor Mill and Genny Hogan of Florence; a sister, Lucille Kirby; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, March 25 at Alexandria Funeral Home. Interment took place in the St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas, Ky.

 

Brenda J. Tackett, 67, McKee

Brenda Joyce Tackett, 67, of McKee, Ky., formerly of Pendleton County, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. She was born in Pendleton County on February 28, 1940, daughter of the late Sidney Morgan and Mattie Mains Bishop. A brother, Dexter Bishop and sisters, Christina Owens and Judy Owens, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Steve (Cotton) Tackett of McKee; sons, Darrell Wilson and Drew Wilson, both of McKee, Brian Wilson of Butler, and Daniel Tackett, Rodney Tackett and Scott Tackett; daughters, Rebecca Joyce Hughes, Martha Hughes and Lena (Dan) Vice, all of Dayton, Ky. and Tara Tackett; brothers, Jimmy (Shirley) Bishop and William Bishop, both of Falmouth; sisters, Lena Orr and Nancy (Harvey) Seedle, both of Falmouth; 10 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, March 21 at Peoples Funeral Home in Falmouth.

Frances Conway, 89, Milford

Frances Jesse Conway, 89, of Milford, Ohio, formerly of Alexandria, Ky., passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at the Arbors of Milford. She was a homemaker and a member of Main Street Baptist Church of Alexandria. She was the daughter of the late Grover and Emma Schnitzler Baker. Her husband, Floyd Conway preceded her in death in 1980.

Survivors include sisters, Louella Huff of Butler and Opal Parsons of Livonia, Mich; brothers, Howard Baker of Milford, Steve Baker of Alexandria, and John Baker of Blanchester, Ohio.

Betty Jean Holland, 81, Alexandria

Betty Jean Holland, 81, of Alexandria, Ky., passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood. She was a former supervisor for R.L. Polk Company and the Internal Revenue Service. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Goldie Sine Berlew. Her husband, Jack D. Holland, preceded her in death in 1997. She was also preceded by a son, David Holland, in 1994.

Survivors include a son, Greg Holland of Alexandria; a sister, Roma Perrin of Butler; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, March 16 at Alexandria Funeral Home. Interment took place in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill.

John DeWald, 79, Cold Spring

John K. DeWald, 79, of Cold Spring, Ky., passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood. He was a retired employee of Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, and was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. He married Nola Jackson (DeWald) and his dear wife survives his passing.

Other survivors include daughters, Holly Vasquez and Angie Ice, both of Alexandria, Shirley Earley of Loveland, Ohio and Bonnie Gavin of Crescent Springs; sons, Ruben Turner of Paris, Ky., Homer DeWald of Cincinnati, and Nicholas DeWald of Florence; a brother, Michael DeWald of Batavia; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, March 27 at Alexandria Funeral Home. Interment took place in St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas.

Eddie Rogers, 67, Erlanger

Eddie "Tex" Rogers, 67, of Erlanger, formerly of Brooksville, Ky., passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2007 in Covington, Ky. He was born in Cobb Hill, Ky., on March 9, 1940, son of the late Alvin Odell and Jessie Watson Rogers. He married Ruth Perkins Rogers on October 28, 1960, and his wife survives his passing. A brother, Eugene Rogers, preceded him in death. He was a supervisor with the Cincinnati Reds organization and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the F&AM of Brooksville, Ky., and the American Legion of Ripley, Ohio.

Survivors include a son, Tony Rogers of Brooksville; a daughter, Shari Hays of Falmouth; a brother, Dewey Rogers of Berlin, Ky.; sisters, Emma Johnson of Silver Grove and Aliene Hatton of Newport; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, March 25 at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Interment took place in the Lenoxburg Cemetery, Foster, Ky.
