Shelby Harrington, 62, Falmouth

Shelby Harrington III, 62, of Falmouth, (formerly of Harrington in Del.) passed away Thursday, December 6, 2007. He was the son of the late Dorothy and Shelby Harrington II.

A retiree of Dover Air Force base where he was manager of the dining facility, Shelby also served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, and a member of Turner Ridge Baptist Church in Falmouth. He raised and bred chickens and was master breeder of White Large Fowl and Bantams which he showed nationally and in Canada.

Shelby is survived by his wife Lynda (Bell) Harrington, three sons; Eddie (Robin) Harrington of Harrington, Del., Shawn Harrington of Dover, Del., Michael (Lisa) Harrington of Clayton, Del., 3 stepchildren; Stan (Teresa) Potter of Houston, Del., Tina (Jim) Koehring of Menominee, Wis., Teresa Lewis of Falmouth, seven grandchildren; Christina Koehring, Katie Harrington, Kayla Lewis, Brandon Harrington, Ryan Harrington, Amber Potter, Amanda Potter, and two sisters; Pat and Norma. He was preceded in death by his brother John.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at Noon at Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth with Bro. Dale Carey Officiating. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m.- Noon.

Hilda Casson Torrey, 84, Dayton

Hilda Casson Torrey, 84, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, December 8 2007, at Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport.

She was the daughter of the late Wilbur Plummer and Elizabeth (Gosney) Plummer.

Mrs. Torrey was a retired employee of Disabled American Veterans in Cold Spring and a member of Dayton Bellevue Christian Church in Dayton. She was preceded in death by her husband John J. Torrey (2001).

Hilda is survived by two daughters; Donna (Casson) Carter of Cold Spring, and Louise Chayer of Union, and two sons; Garry Casson of Taylor Mill and Charles Casson of Bellevue, and Sister, Irene Gosney of Augusta, 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Alexandria Funeral Home in Alexandria. David Braun officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8. p.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2007. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery in Grant's Lick. Geneva Lawson, 79, Alexandria

Geneva Ruth Lawson, 79, of Alexandria, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood. Born in Pendleton County, she was the daughter of John and Eva Cummins Gillespie.

Geneva was married to Roy E. Lawson for 44 years, and he preceded her death.

She was a bookkeeper for Lawson's Garage in Alexandria, and a lifelong member, deaconess and secretary of Mt. Moriah Christian Church in Pendleton County, where she also served as secretary and charter member of the Ladies Aid Society. Geneva was also a member of the Happy 100th Senior Citizens of Alexandria and a former member of the Alexandria Fair Board and the Alexandria Garden Club.

She is survived by daughter; Janet (Paul A.) Maloney, and son Roger Lawson both of Alexandria, three grandchildren; Kristen Maloney, Paul Anthony Maloney III, and Joshua Roy Lawson, and two brothers; John Gillespie of Butler, and Paul Gillespie of Ft. Wright.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 10, 2007 at Alexandria Funeral Home. Bro. Darrell Breeden officiated. Interment took place in the Alexandria Cemetery.

Dolly Kay Estepp, 35, Falmouth

Dolly Kay Estepp, 35, of Falmouth passed away Saturday, December 8, 2007 at St. Luke Hospital East.

Dolly was the daughter of David Hurst and Christina Thompson. She is survived by father David and Carol Hurst, mother Christina Thompson all of Butler, sons; T.J. Estepp and Robert Estepp both of Falmouth, and brother Eric Hurst of Falmouth, and sister; Charlsey Turner of Foster.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 10, 2007 at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler. Interment took place at Riverside Cemetery in Falmouth

 

Gary Edward Mitchell, 63, Butler

Gary Edward Mitchell, 63 of Butler passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at his home. He was the son of Mary Fancis Feldkamp Mitchell and the late Herman Mitchell.

Gary enjoyed attending drag races, smoking cigars on the front porch with family and friends and worked as a maintenance foreman for Newport Steel.

He is survived by his wife Karol Schnoor Mitchell of Butler, mother Mary Francis Mitchell of Indianapolis, Ind., sons; Mark Mitchell and Tommy Mitchell both of Cincinnati, Ohio, a daughter Jamie Mitchell of Butler, and brothers; Wayne Mitchell of Indianapolis, Ind., and Greg Mitchell of Milford and sister Diane Sweeny of Florence.

Visitation was held, Saturday December 8, 2007 at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler.

No Funeral service was held.

 

Robert L. Moore, 75, Falmouth

Robert L. Moore, 75, of Falmouth, passed away Monday, December 3, 2007 at his home.

Robert was born in Greensburg, Ind., and the son of the late Joseph T. Jr. and Gladys Clemons Moore.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and Navy, and was the owner of Licking Valley Nursing Home.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife Thelma Moore, and survived by his brother Jack Yelton of Morgan.

Funeral services were held Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Peoples Funeral Home in Falmouth. Interment was held at Riverside Cemetery in Falmouth.

 

Amanda Herald, 78, Butler

Amanda Herald, 78 of Butler, passed away, Saturday, December 1, 2007 at St Luke East Hospital in Fort Thomas.

She was a homemaker and a 54 year member of the New Macedonia Old Regular Baptist Church in Newport.

Amanda was the wife of the late Elliott Herald. She is survived by four sisters; Virgie Arrowood of Jackson, Geneva Debuler of Hamilton, Ohio, Lettie Gross of Alexandria, and Lizzie Turner of Jackson, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at The New Macedonia Old Regular Baptist Church in Newport. Interment was held at The Buck Herald Cemetery in Breathitt County.

Lenora Justice, 88, La Porte, Ind

Lenora B. Justice, 88 of La Porte, Ind., (formerly of Falmouth), passed away Friday, December 7, 2007 in Indiana.

Lenora was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ellen (Carter) Yelton of Falmouth. She attended Union Baptist Church in Union Hills, Ind., and was a member of the Noble Volunteer Fire Dept Women's Auxillary.

She was preceded in death by husband, John H. Justice of Erlanger, daughter Sue Carol, son Robert H. Justice, four brothers and two sisters.

Lenora is survived by daughter; Barbara (Wayne) Rosenstreter, sons; Joseph (Berndalyn) Justice, J. Thomas (Sandra) Justice all of La Porte, Ind., and Gary (Diane) Justice of Westville, Ind., and sister Mildred McKinley of Luna Pier, Mich., and Lucille Yelton of Falmouth, brother Paul Yelton of Walkerton, Ind., and 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 12, 2007 at 2 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home in Falmouth. Visitation from noon to 2 p.m. Final resting place will be Riverside Cemetery in Falmouth.

Charles Schlosser, 73, Alexandria

Charles W. Schlosser, 73, beloved husband of Carolyn (Pope) Schlosser, passed away Monday, December 3, 2007 at Mercy Franciscan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

A blacksmith/farrier, Charles was the beloved father to Rick and Mike Schlosser, Connie Gosney, Debbie Zappa, Kathy Neal who survive his death, and daughter Karen Beiting who preceded him in death.

Charles is also survived by brother Bob Schlosser and Katie Stewart, and 14 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Cooper Funeral Home in Alexandria. Interment was held at Alexandria Cemetery in Alexandria.

Ella Louise Bishop, 88, Falmouth

Ella Louise Bishop, 88, of Falmouth, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2007 at her home. Ella was a daughter of the late Henry Washington and Mary Barker Bishop. She was preceded in death by brother John Bishop.

Ella was a member of the Falmouth United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for 19 years and participated in United Methodist Women. Ella was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #481, Pendleton Senior Citizens, and a retired teacher of 47 years, teaching at Falmouth and Southern Elementary Schools. She was also a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association. She was a graduate of Falmouth High School and Eastern Kentucky University in 1948.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 14, 2007 at Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth with Rev. Gary Baker officiating. Visitation will take place Thursday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. An order of the Eastern Star service will be at held at 7:30 p.m. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Keevil Hart, Mark Hart, Curtis Clemons, Larry Jenkins, Bob Gulick, Robert Jones and Jimmy Cummins.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Falmouth Methodist Church Book of remembrance.

 

Sarah Golden, 93, Cynthiana

Sarah Elizabeth Golden, 93 of Cynthiana, formerly of Falmouth, passed away Monday, December 10, 2007 at the Edgemont Healthcare Center in Cynthiana.

Funeral arrangements are currently pending with Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth.

 

Albert Wise, 75, Highland Heights

Albert "Gene" Wise, 75, of Highland Heights, passed away, Friday, November 30, 2007 at St Luke East Hospital in Fort Thomas.

Albert was a retired factory worker for General Motors in Norwood, Ohio, and a United States Navy Veteran.

He was married to Dorothy Wise who preceded him in death on November, 18, 2007.

He is survived by two daughters; Catherine Dehner of Highland Heights, and Linda Ackerson of Dayton, and four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Cooper Funeral Home in Alexandria served the family.

Betty Barnard, 63, Cynthiana

Betty L. Woods Colemire Barnard, 63, of Cynthiana, formerly of Brooksville passed away December 3, 2007 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Orville and Mary Elizabeth Estep Woods. She was a homemaker.

Betty was also preceded in death by her husbands; Frank Colemire and Bobby Barnard, three sons; Johnny Colemire, Frankie Colemire and Anthony Colemire, four brothers; Holbert Woods, Clinton Woods, Junior Woods and Darklis Woods, and three sisters; Barbara Cooper, Lorene Nickerson and Virginia Smith and a great grand-daughter Katelyn Stoker.

She is survived by two sons; Dale (Mary Lou) Colemire of Bracken County and Lynn (Jessica) Colemire of Harrison County, and three daughters; Susie Snapp and Kay (Russell) Snowden, both of Harrison County and Betty Jean Colemire of Richmond, brother Gilbert "Fly" Woods of Bracken County, and five sisters; Christine Tucker, Caroline Liggett, Eva Jean Nickerson, Ruth West and Pauline Jefferson, all of Brooksville; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Ware Funeral Home in Cynthiana. Interment was held at Owens Cemetery in Bracken County.

 

Billye Tither, 82, California

Billye H. Tither, 82, passed away Monday, December 5, 2007 at Hospice of the Bluegass Inpatient Unit, St Luke East in Fort Thomas.

Billye was born in Mt. Holly, North Carolina and a resident of California. She lived the last two years at Carmel Manor in Ft. Thomas.

She was an active member in her community serving in school, church and volunteer activities.

Billye was preceded in death by a son Rusty. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, George Tither, and daughters, Kathleen Webber, Kimm Margroum, and son-in-law Bill Margroum, granddaughters; McKenzie Margroum and Juleann Williams, and great grandson Morgan Williams.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Persimmon Grove Baptist Church in Alexandria. Interment was held at Persimmon Grove Cemetery.
