Mary Conrad, 95, Ft. Thomas

Mary Elizabeth Anderson Conrad, 95, of Fort Thomas, formerly of Falmouth, passed away Friday, October 26, 2007 at the Hospice Care Center, St. Luke East Hospital in Fort Thomas.

Born on May 23, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Buford and Lura Amanda Hewell Anderson. Mary was married to Allen Wilson Conrad who preceded her in death in 2005.

She was a retired teacher for Pendleton County Schools, member of Short Creek Baptist Church and the Retired Teacher's Association, KEA and Former member of the Falmouth Women's Club, Pendleton County Library Board and Kay Knarr Homemakers.

She is survived by four children, Jerry Conrad of Plymouth, Florida, Pamela C. (Carl) Beck of Georgetown Ohio, Russ (Penny) Conrad of Falmouth, Jill A. (Paul) Hall of Williamsburg, Ohio, and five grandchildren, Joseph Allen Conrad, Rachel Elizabeth Conrad-Fausz, Caroline Elizabeth Hall, Anna Katherine Hall and Rebecca Marie Hall and brother Charles Anderson of Costa Mesa, California and sister Lura Foard of Hopkinsville.

Funeral services will be held at Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at 10 a.m. Carl Beck and Bro. Harry Crozier will officiate. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service will be Pam Beck, Joseph Conrad, James Fausz, Louis Ball, Paul Hall and Russ Conrad.

Dennis Lehmkuhl, 62, Alexandria

Dennis N. Lehmkuhl, 62, of Alexandria, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2007 at his home. Mr Lehmkuhl was the former owner of Fairlane Oil Company in Alexandria for 19 years.

He was a Deacon with the Diocese of Covington and a member of Saint Mary Parish Council, and an active member of Saint Mary Parish Church.

Mr. Lehmkuhl was also the former President of Cincinnati Catholic Big Brothers and also past President of Campbell County Red Devils, and Chaplain for the Alexandria Police Department.

Son of the late Anthony Lehmkuhl and Hermina Moss Lehmkuhl, Dennis is survived by his wife Ruth Willman Lehmkuhl, daughter, Sarah R. (Tyrone) Lehmkuhl of Cold Spring, three sons, Dennis A. (Jennifer) Lehmkuhl of Southgate, Richard V. (Rachel) Lehmkuhl of Fort Wright, and Matthew P. (Lisa) Lehmkuhl of Florence, and sister Mary C. (Lehmkuhl) Byrd of Cold Spring and brother, Ronald Lehmkuhl of Cincinnati, Ohio, and 10 grandchildren.

A memorial mass was held, Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Alexandria. Interment was held at Saint Mary Cemetery in Alexandria.

Alexandria Funeral Home of Alexandria assisted the family.

Vonetta Cherry, 65, Owen Co.

Vonetta (Van) Cherry, 65, of Owen County passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at Harborside Healthcare in Owenton.

Van was born in Clay County and daughter of the late Evan and Pearl Hurley Curry.

She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and family. Van was preceded in death by husband James Peace, and survived by son Paul (Mary) Hurley of Jonesville and three grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica and Danielle Hurley, and one great grand child, Hannah Lou Greene.

A graveside funeral service was held Friday, October 26, 2007 at Jonesville Cemetery in Jonesville.

Lena Steinhauser, 98, Morning View

Lena Beatrice Fisk Steinhauser, 98, of Morning View, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2007 in Rogersville, Alabama.

Mrs Steinhauser was born and raised in Kenton County, and graduated from Piner High School. She attended Eastern Kentucky State Teacher's College in Richmond, receiving a lifetime certificate, and finished her degree at the University of Kentucky. She began her teaching career in the 1930's but left to raise her family. Lena returned to teaching in the mid 1940's and served the Kenton County School system until her retirement from Visalia School in 1974 where she was both the principal and sixth grade teacher.

She was an active member of Wilmington Baptist Church and the Retired Teachers Assoc-iation.

During the 1940's and 1950's, she and her husband ran a market route to Covington, providing fresh fruits, vegetables and meat to many customers throughout the Covington area.

Lena is preceded in death by her husband John Wilmer Steinhauser, brother Raymond Franklin Fisk, and his wife Helen.

She is survived by son, Wilmer Aldin Steinhauser of Rogersville, Alabama and his wife Linda, and three grandchildren, David (Susan) Steinhauser, Edward (Barbara) Steinhauser, and Anna (Henry) Steinhauser Norton, and three great grandchildren, Jason and Ashley Steinhauser and William Norton.

Funeral services were held, Saturday October 27, 2007 at Wilmington Baptist Church in Fiskburg. Final resting place followed in the Wilmington Cemetery.

Peoples Funeral Home of Butler served the family.

 

Helen Crotty, 84, Crestview Hills

Helen Von Lehman Crotty, 84, of Crestview Hills, passed away Monday, October 29, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 3, 2007 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Ft. Mitchell. Mass of Christian Burial will follow. Internment will be held at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Falmouth.

William A. Smith, 76, Melbourne

William A. Smith, 76, of Melbourne, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2007 at Saint Luke East in Fort Thomas.

William was a retired insurance agent for Old American Insurance Company, and a member of the United States Army and a veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Mary W. (Schappacher) Smith of Melbourne, daughter, Margie T. (Smith) Stegel also of Melbourne, sister, Audrey Bailey of Newport, brother, Meinard Smith of Spencer, Mass., and four grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were held Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Saint John the Baptist in Wilder. Rev. Paul Krebs officiated. Internment was held at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Taylor Mill.

Thomas Pomeroy, 55, DeMossville

Thomas N. Pomeroy, 55, of DeMossville, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2007 at his home.

Thomas was a pilot for Comair for 22 years, and a member of Fellowship of Believers Church in Florence.

He was preceded in death by his mother Mary French Pomeroy, and survived by his wife, Linda Sutton Pomeroy of DeMossville, father John Pomeroy of Tucson, Arizona, three sons, John Pomeroy of Nashville, Tennessee, and William and Matthew Pomeroy both of DeMossville, and a daughter, Carrieli Pomeroy also of DeMossville, and four sisters Laura Park of Stockton, California, Patricia Pomeroy of Charlottesville, Virginia, Diane Diaz of Boca Raton, Florida, Katherine Pomeroy of Kapa'au, Hawaii, and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday October 27, 2007 at Fellowship of Believers Church in Florence.
