Zola Cooper, 82, Falmouth

Zola Cooper, 82, of Falmouth, Kentucky, passed away on September 27, 2006 at her residence. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Herman Cooper; daughters, Judy Niemann of Sunman, Ind., and Jenny Klaber of Butler; a stepdaughter, Barbara Caskey of Butlerville, Ohio; sons, Ronald Combs of Newport, Donald Combs of Cincinnati, and William Combs of the United States Army; stepsons, Bobby Cooper and Donald Cooper, both of Goshen, Ohio; sisters, Stella Johnson and Polinia Campbell, both of Hazard, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at Cooper Funeral Home in Grants Lick, Ky. Interment took place in Graceland Memorial Gardens in Milford, Ohio.

William Bentle, 94, Pennsylvania

William Harold Bentle, 94, of Bellefonte, Pa., died at Centre Crest Nursing Facility on Sunday, October 08, 2006. He was born in Pendleton County, Kentucky on May 14, 1912, and was the son of the late Cora Lee (Cummins) and William Henry Bentle.

He married Ruby (Wilson) Bentle on August 30, 1939 in Falmouth, Kentucky and they celebrated 67 years of marriage this year. She survives at home.

In the early years, he was a school teacher for seven years in Pendleton County. During the summers he owned and operated an ice cream parlor, hand churning his own homemade ice cream. In 1939 he started a refrigeration company, Arrow Refrigeration, and then taught Refrigeration Mechanics at Northern Kentucky Vocational School until his retirement in 1980.

In his life, he was a Mason for over 75 years, earning his 32nd degree, and he was a member in good standing at the Scottish Rite Cathedral. He received his Associate degree from Northern Kentucky University at age 65 in Education. He was an active church member, serving as both deacon and elder for many years.

In the late 1970's Harold bought lake front property near Kincaid Lake State Park and designed and built his wife their dream home. They called their home Rainbow's End and spent over 25 happy years there.

His greatest joys in life were his wife Ruby, spending time with his family, especially his brother Kenneth, and his children and grandchildren. He loved to eat and greatly enjoyed his wife's home cooking. He was an avid fisherman, handyman and storyteller.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, William Wilson Bentle and wife Susan of Kalispell, Mont., Karen Lee Griggs of Bellefonte, Pa., four grandchildren, William Dante Bentle and wife Sonia of Cincinnati, Ohio, Gabriel Griggs and wife Christina of Florence, Ky., Leah Guizar and husband, Jon, of Bellefonte, Pa., and Daniel Griggs, of Reading, Pa., and seven great grandchildren, Austin and Jacob Bentle, Christine Hartman, Emma and Lauren Griggs, and Eden and Caden Guizar. He is also survived by three brothers and a sister, Vernon Bentle and wife Juanita, of Kentucky, Carmen Russel and husband Ray, of Ohio, Leland Bentle and wife Betty, of Kentucky, and Omer Bentle and wife Jane of Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Bentle, his sister Corinne Frances, and his sister Dorothy Bentle.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 20, 2006 at Falmouth Christian Church in Falmouth, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Falmouth Christian Church, 303 W. Shelby Street, Falmouth, KY 41040.

Esther Elliott, 91, DeMossville

Esther Frances Elliott, 91, of DeMossville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Williamstown. She was a homemaker and a retired beautician. She was a member of Knoxville Christian Church in Williamstown. Her husband, Nathan Elliott, preceded her in death in 1984.

Survivors include her sister, Sylvia Cox of DeMossville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18 at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge, Ky. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, also at the funeral home. Interment will take place in the Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge.

Mary Louise Jacobs, 73, Foster

Mary Louise Jacobs, 73, of Foster, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2006 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born in Newport, Ky., on March 25, 1933, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Crawford Murnahan. She was a member of the Protestant religion since 1972. She married Donald Joseph Jacobs and her husband preceded her in death. She was also preceded by a son, Donald Patrick Jacobs and brothers, Frank Murnahan and Jack Murnahan.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary T. (Bob) Casterline of Foster, Ky.; brothers, Patrick Murnahan and Michael Murnahan, both of Northern Kentucky; two grandchildren, Robyn (Scott) Mayes and D.J. Jacobs; and two great-grandchildren, Carson and Jared Mayes.

Funeral services were conducted on October 12, 2006 at Peoples Funeral Home in Butler, Ky. Interment took place in the St. Stephens Cemetery, Ft. Thomas, Ky.

Florence Rohling, 93, Alexandria

Florence G. Hall Hull Rohling, 93, of Alexandria, Kentucky, formerly of Latonia, Ky., passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at St. Luke East Hospital. She was born in Latonia on November 5, 1913, daughter of the late George and Catherine Schravogel Hall. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerome J. (Bud) Hull in 1973, and her second husband, Lawrence J. Rohling, in 1998.

Survors include sons, James T. Hull and Daniel J. Hull, both of Alexandria, and Nicholas D. Hull of Greenback, Tenn.; brothers, Charles Hall of Elsmere, Ky., William Hall of Cincinnati, Paul J. Hall of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; and 29 great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial was held on October 10, 2006 at St. Joseph Cemetery in Camp Spring, Ky., under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home.

Thomas Hamilton, 60, Williamstown

Thomas J. Hamilton, 60, of Williamstown, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood, Ky. He was owner of Kentucky Sign Company in Dry Ridge, and a retired CSX employee. He was a former maintenance employee for the Dry Ridge Outlet Mall, a member of the Pentecostal faith, a member of the Orion Masonic Lodge of Falmouth and was a Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Cox Hamilton of Williamstown; step-sons Robert Deck of Independence, Joseph Deck of Morningview, Tim Deck of Bellevue, Eric Deck and Keith Deck, both of Dry Ridge; step-daughters, Martha Bass of Williamstown and Aimee Duran of Atlanta; a brother, Richard Hamilton of California; and 18 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 12 at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home in Dry Ridge. Mr. Hamilton was cremated.

Steven Turner, 3 mos., Dayton

Steven Turner, age 3 months, of Dayton, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2006 at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Survivors include his parents, Steven and Nicole Turner; sisters, Jessica Turner, Ciara Ottesen, Stephanie Ottesen and Charlotte Ottesen, at home; maternal grandfather, Clint Turner and maternal stepgrandmother, Sandy Turner; and maternal grandmother Delora Turner of Dayton.

Funeral services were conducted on Friday, October 13, 2006 at Bowlings Creek Church of Christ in Altro, Ky. Interment took place in the Turner Cemetery, Altro, Ky., under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick.

Mae Lynn Mayes, infant, Newport

Mae Lynn Angelique Mayes, infant daughter of Derrick Mayes and Angel Stamper, was born on October 6, 2006 and passed away on October 6, 2006 at St. Elizabeth South Hospital in Edgewood, Ky.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by sisters Alexus Mayes, Nariah Mayes and Darianna Mayes; and brothers, Derek Mayes and Davlon Mayes, all of Newport; maternal grandparents, John and Darlene Stamper of Newport; paternal grandmother, Michelle Benson of Newport; and paternal great-grandparents, James and Bessie Benson of Newport.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, Ky. Interment took place in the Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate, Ky.
