Evelyn Miles, 83, Falmouth

Evelyn Miles, 83, of Rhonda Ave., Falmouth, Ky., passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at her home. Mrs. Miles was born May 10, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Earl and Nancy Lawrence Singer. She was a homemaker and a member of the Antioch Christian Church. She married Carlos Miles on September 19, 1942 in Brooksville, Ky.

One sister, Thelma Teegarden, preceeded her in death.

Survivors include husband, Carlos Miles, Falmouth; son, Kenzie Earl Miles, St. Petersburg, Fla.; daughters, Rhonda Gail Creech of Wilder, Ky., Brenda Carol Bruin of Falmouth, Judy Kay Clos of Foster; brother, Earl Singer and sister, Gladys Frazier, both of Falmouth; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, December 31, 2006 at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth.

Pallbearers were Bobby Joe Teegarden, Sonny Teegarden, Billy Singer, Steve Singer, Bob Walthers, Brandon Walthers.

Interment was in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Pendleton County.

 

Vera Lou Painter, 67, Falmouth

Vera Lou Painter, 67, of Falmouth, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2006, at her residence. Born in Campbell County, Ky., on May 23, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Carmen Clyde and Norma "Bea" Florence Cooper. She married Robert Painter on July 31, 1965, and her dear husband survives her passing. She was a homemaker and a member of the Butler United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband of 41 years, Robert Painter, she leaves one son, Damon Kent (Tina) Cooper of Cold Spring, Ky.; two daughters, Ressie Lynn (Alan) Hall of Falmouth, and Robin Lou (Jerry) Sparks of Alexandria, Ky.; and five grandchildren, Lucas Taylor Cooper, Adam Cory Hall, Rebecca Lynn Hall, Sarah Elizabeth Sparks, and Robert Carmen Sparks.

Funeral services were held December 30, 2006 at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Bro. Kent Allender, Bro. Ken Allender, and Bro. John Losey officiating. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.

John Stilz, 80, DeMossville

John George Stilz, 80, of DeMossville, Ky., passed away Monday, December 25, 2006 at Villa Springs Nursing Home in Erlanger, Ky. He was a retired chemist for the Food and Drug Administration, a veteran of the Navy during WW II, a member of the Carters Chapel United Methodist Church in Gardnersville, Ky., and a graduate from the University of Louisville.

Survivors include sons, Martin Allen Stilz of Georgetown, Tx.; John George Stilz, Jr., of Gardnersville, Ky, Martin Craig Stilz of Dry Ridge; daughter, Claudia Elizabeth Sizemore of Union, Ky.; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 30, 2006 at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler. Interment was at Gardnersville Cemetery.

 

Cora Belle Dance, 90, Cynthiana

Cora Belle (Toots) Dance, 90, of Cynthiana, Ky., passed away Sunday, December 24, 2006 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She was born in Harrison County, Ky., on July 21, 1916, and was the daughter of the late Leonard and Mary Ellen Vaughn Fredrick. She was retired from the Pendleton County Hospital; from 1955-1959 she worked at Morgan School, and 1960 until the early 1970's she worked at Pendleton High School. She was a member of the Roanoke Christian Church. She married Frank Dance on January 18, 1935.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, Frank Dance and daughter, JoAnn Dance.

Survivors include son, Leroy (Sherry) Dance of Cynthiana; daughter, Grace Cooper, Lexington; sisters, Helen Cury and Gladys Fredrick, both of Mason, Ky., three grandchildren, Allen (Kendra) Cooper, Andrea (Pat) Elkin and Dawn Dance; four great-grandchildren, Cassie Cooper, Abby Cooper, Morgan Cooper and Zachary Elkin; two step-children and three great-step-children.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Interment was held at Roanoke Cemetery. Memorial contributions, if desired, are suggested to Roanoke Christian Church or Roanoke Cemetery.

 

Donna Hamblin, 67, DeMossville

Donna Jeanne Miller Hamblin, 67, of DeMossville, Ky., passed away Saturday, December 23 at her residence on Knoxville-Gardnersville Road. She was the daughter of Jeff and Grace Miller, who preceeded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of Verona's First Full Gospel Church of God.

She was also preceeded in death by her husband, Walter Hamblin.

Survivors include daughters, Katrina Brown of Hodgeville, Ky., Victoria Hamblin of DeMossville, and Kirstin Squint of Baton Rouge, La.; son Keith "Rocky" Hamblin of DeMossville; brother Jeff Miller of Lexington; and sister Ena Faye Bowling of Covington, Ky.

Funeral services were held December 27 at Elliston-Stanley Fiuneral Home in Crittenden. Interment was in Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge, Ky.

Memorials are suggested to Western Kentucky University Gifted Student Program in Bowling Green, Ky.

 

Allie Johnson, 95, Cynthiana

Allie Mae Hurt Johnson, 95, a resident of Edgemont Health Care Facility in Cynthiana passed away December 22, 2006, at the nursing home. She was born in Madison County on July 6, 1911 to the late James Hurt and Rosie Hollingsworth Hurt Layton. She was a former employee of Eastern Kentucky University and a member of Unity Christian Church.

Besides her parents, she was preceeded in death by her husband, Malcolm "June" Johnson, Jr.; two brothers, Arnold B. Hurt and Willie Smith Hurt; and three sisters, Ethel Louise Hurt, Mary Elizabeth Hurt and Hazel Florence Hurt.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Johnson, Lexington; two daughters, Glenda (Bobby) Short, Cynthiana and Pat (Collis) Ray, Falmouth; eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and four great-great-step grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Ware Funeral Home by Bro. Jack Bowman. Graveside services were held December 24 at Madison County Memorial Gardens in Richmond.

Donald Paul Smith, 60, Foster

Donald Paul Smith, 60, of Foster, Ky., passed away Tuesday, December 26 in Brooksville, Ky. He was the son of Paul Junior and Mildred Louise Smith. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He worked for Bray Trucking and was owner of Smith Service Center. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was Elder and Chairman of the Board at Fairview Christian Church, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of Woodmen of the World, Old Pioneer Cemetery Board of Director, Johnsville Cemetery Board, Bracken County Polar Bears statistician, and Bracken County Alumni Association.

He was preceeded in death by an infant daughter, Amy Lynn Smith.

He married Wilma Jean Haley Smith on July 16, 1966, and she survives his passing. Also surviving are children Jeanna Dawn (Michael) Jefferson, Brooksville, Wade Allen Smith, Haley Louise Smith, Karlie Mae Smith, all of Foster; four grandchildren, Dillon Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Lawrence Jefferson, Makayla Dawn Jefferson, and Caleb Michael Jefferson; brothers and sisters, Wanda Sue (Paul) Simpson of Berry. Jerry Wayne (Pauline) Smith, Foster, Jimmie (Margaret) Haley, Falmouth, and Majorie Haley Mingua of Foster.

Funeral services were held December 30 at Fairview Christian Church under the direction of Moore & Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Interment was in Johnsville Cemetery, Foster.
